When devices under test outperform the instrument measuring them, progress stops. But Rohde & Schwarz keeps innovation moving with advanced test solutions that push beyond the limits of traditional measurement methods. At European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2026 in London, visitors can discover the company’s latest test solutions for RF and microwave components, as well as wireless, radar and satellite systems. Among them are solutions designed to help engineers address the growing demands of today’s electronic warfare (EW) and electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO).

London is calling once again for European Microwave Week, bringing together leading experts in RF, microwave, wireless and radar technology who are pushing the boundaries of design. From October 6 to 8, 2026, Rohde & Schwarz will present at booth B10 in the European Microwave Exhibition at Excel London its latest test and measurement solutions designed to help engineers stay ahead at the cutting edge of design and prepare systems for increasingly contested and complex spectrum environments.

Markus Lörner, Application Segment Manager RF & Microwave Components at Rohde & Schwarz, says: “Our EuMW 2026 motto, ‘Progress needs proof,’ reflects what many engineers are facing today: when DUTs push beyond the limits of conventional methods, innovation slows down. At the show, we will demonstrate how our advanced test solutions support customers across RF and microwave components, satellite and radar systems, phased-array antennas and emerging 6G sensing applications. As R&D moves toward higher frequencies, more integrated designs and increasingly demanding spectrum environments, precise and reliable measurement becomes a key enabler of progress.”

From EW and EMSO scenarios to advanced high-frequency characterization

A highlight at the Rohde & Schwarz booth is the FSWX signal and spectrum analyzer, displayed in a radar and electronic warfare (EW) test scenario within the context of electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO), focused on DRFM-based jammers. In this setup, an R&S SMW200A vector signal generator simulates radar signals, while the FSWX uses its multi-channel architecture to analyze jammer input and output signals simultaneously for a comprehensive assessment of deceptive signal behavior. The new, fully integrated R&S FSWX-KM700 pulse analysis option measures both channels in parallel and provides detailed insight into pulsed radar parameters, differences between the channels and the parameter trends over time.

In a second demonstration, Rohde & Schwarz will show how the game-changing multi-channel capabilities of the FSWX can be extended into the E-band and even up to 110 GHz for advanced high-frequency component characterization. Combined with the R&S SFI100A wideband IF vector signal generator and the fully calibrated R&S FE110ST/SR external frontends, the setup supports wideband satellite component testing for next-generation payload and link applications and beyond, helping engineers capture the true characteristics of the device under test and overcoming the limits of traditional measurement equipment.

Advanced testing for low-noise sources and high-power RF frontends

Rohde & Schwarz will also showcase the enhanced R&S FSWP phase noise analyzer and VCO tester platform for advanced component characterization. With support for residual and absolute phase noise measurements up to 56 GHz and further improved internal reference, R&S FSWP-B62, the solution offers high flexibility for testing synthesizers, OCXOs, DROs, VCOs and two-port components such as amplifiers. New options for integrating external signal sources as local oscillators can dramatically accelerate measurements, in some cases by up to a factor of 1,000, making the R&S FSWP well suited for the development of low-noise signal sources for radar, satellite, base station and high-speed digital applications.

Rohde & Schwarz will also present the new R&S SAM200 system amplifier for high-power test applications in the Ka- and V-band up to 53 GHz. In radar, satellite link and backhaul applications, RF frontends must deliver higher power levels so signals can travel farther and cover larger distances. Designed to support validation of these components, the amplifier extends test setups with higher signal power while maintaining precise and reliable level control. At EuMW, Rohde & Schwarz will showcase the R&S SAM200 in two demonstrations: one characterizing a high-power Ka-band amplifier with the R&S ZNA vector network analyzer in a fully integrated and calibrated test setup, and another highlighting the amplifier’s linearity in a wideband modulated test scenario with the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and the R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer.

Scalable test for SATCOM and phased-array systems

At EuMW, Rohde & Schwarz will also highlight the R&S ZNB3000 vector network analyzer for measurement applications in satellite communications, Earth observation and radio astronomy. Its wide dynamic range and low trace noise provide the sensitivity required for demanding antenna characterization and radar measurements. For higher-frequency applications, optional millimeter wave converters extend coverage up to 330 GHz, including bands used by microwave and millimeter wave radiometers. Together, these capabilities make the R&S ZNB3000 a versatile and cost-effective solution for a broad range of measurement needs in the satellite and space sectors.

Rohde & Schwarz will also demonstrate a phased array antenna test setup highlighting fast and accurate OTA testing and antenna diagram pattern validation for advanced wireless and aerospace and defense applications. Featuring a 5G NR FR2 device under test, the solution combines the R&S ATS1800C CATR- based over-the-air test system with the R&S ZNA vector network analyzer to help reduce test complexity, increase throughput and preserve beamforming accuracy from development through verification to production. A special see-through version of the R&S ATS1800C will be on display at EuMW, featuring a plexiglass wall, giving visitors a rare look at the chamber’s internal CATR technology.

Micro-Doppler emulation for emerging sensing use cases

With the AREG800A radar target generator, Rohde & Schwarz will showcase new test capabilities addressing use cases like 6G integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). As 6G networks evolve beyond data connectivity toward environmental awareness, ISAC is emerging as a key technology for detecting and classifying objects using mobile infrastructure. In addition to emulating distance, speed and radar cross section (RCS), the solution can also generate micro-Doppler signatures, enabling more realistic test scenarios for applications such as drone detection and supporting the development of advanced sensing capabilities.

Operating across 50 million managed homes and billions of daily Wi-Fi telemetry points, the engine translates raw network data into closed-loop actions—ranging from automated mesh re-optimization to guided subscriber self-care.

Technical Architecture: Understand, Reason, and Automate at Scale

The core innovation behind Airties Aura is its transition from passive monitoring to autonomous workflow execution. Built with strict human-in-the-loop governance controls, the engine operates on a three-stage functional loop:

Understand: Continuously senses environment health by parsing live telemetry across customer premises equipment (CPE), connected devices, extender meshes, and active applications.

Reason: Utilizes domain-grounded models to isolate root causes for example, distinguishing between a congested fiber link and a weak Wi-Fi backhaul on a specific extender node.

Automate: Executes real-time fixes autonomously (e.g., steering high-bandwidth streaming devices to 5GHz bands or re-configuring mesh paths) or surfaces role-tailored recommendations to operator teams.

Aura integrates directly into established operator platforms including Airties Careview and supports open, agent-to-agent interoperability via standardized data models. This enables ISPs to surface natural-language summaries for customer care agents, roll back unstable firmware for network operations, or deliver plain-English self-service steps inside consumer mobile apps.

Transforming the Telecommunications and Broadband Managed Services Industry

The release of an agentic AI engine for home network management reflects a broader, structural evolution across the Telecommunications, ISP Operations, and Smart Home Infrastructure landscape.

The Obsolescence of Static Diagnostic Dashboards
For over a decade, managed Wi-Fi vendors competed on the depth of their diagnostic graphs and metric dashboards. However, providing customer care agents with endless signal-to-noise charts often increased average handle times (AHT) as support representatives struggled to interpret complex RF data.

Airties Aura signals the end of passive diagnostic dashboards. The broadband industry is pivoting toward intent-based, autonomous operations. Telecommunications software is no longer evaluated strictly on data collection metrics, but on its ability to automate resolution, lower mean-time-to-repair (MTTR), and prevent support calls altogether.

Establishing “Supervised Autonomy” as an Operator Standard
Broadband operators manage mission-critical residential infrastructure and are understandably cautious regarding unmonitored AI actions that could accidentally disconnect whole neighborhoods.

By combining autonomous agent execution with role-based permissions and auditable safety boundaries, Airties models how telecommunications software can safely deploy AI at scale. Operator teams retain total oversight over population-scale interventions while allowing routine, single-home optimizations to occur automatically in the background.

Broad Operational Impact on Broadband Providers and Enterprises

For telecom executives, Chief Technology Officers (CTOs), and Vice Presidents of Customer Experience navigating rising operating expenses (OpEx) and high subscriber churn, adopting agentic network intelligence delivers immediate financial and operational advantages:

Insulating Operating Margins Against Field Service Costs
Rolling a technician truck to a subscriber’s home is one of the single most expensive operational events for an ISP. Resolving mesh bottlenecks, client steering errors, and physical placement issues autonomously through software allows broadband providers to drastically slash truck roll volumes, directly protecting operating margins.

Lowering Subscriber Churn and Enhancing Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)
In the highly competitive broadband industry, bad WiFi experience is the biggest reason for customer churn. Network optimization before the customer can feel the impact on their video streaming performance will not only boost Net Promoter Scores (NPS), but will also help to keep Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

Rohde & Schwarz has successfully verified for the first time a 3GPP NR conformance test case for Search Space Set Group Switching (SSSG). Introduced in 3GPP Release 17, SSSG is a power-saving mechanism for user equipment that improves how a device monitors control channel activity while maintaining reliable reception of scheduling information.

By completing verification of the 3GPP RAN5 NR conformance test case TS 38.523-1 TC 7.1.1.12.5 for SSSG at an early stage, the two companies supported early readiness of this feature across the 5G conformance ecosystem. The verification was carried out using a mobile test platform using Qualcomm® X105 5G Modem-RF and the R&S TS-PCT protocol conformance test platform from Rohde & Schwarz, which is based on the CMX500 5G one-box signaling tester. SSSG optimizes the PDCCH monitoring behavior in 5G NR devices. This reduces unnecessary monitoring activity and helps improve power efficiency.

Rohde & Schwarz and Qualcomm Technologies are the first to complete all relevant test aspects for this conformance test case. During the verification work, the companies also identified areas where the underlying conformance specification could be improved and supported the submission of a change request to 3GPP RAN5, the group responsible for conformance test specifications. This links practical verification work with ongoing standardization development.

This combination of test execution and standards input shows how verification work can also improve the quality of future test specifications. For device manufacturers, the wireless chipset ecosystem and certification organizations, it marks a step toward reliable testing of advanced 5G power-saving functions.

World digital infrastructure leader Equinix, Inc. announced the launch of Equinix® Fabric One, a managed, any-to-any connectivity solution built to simplify how global enterprises link distributed cloud networks, artificial intelligence architectures, and on-premises infrastructure. Unveiled at Equinix Horizon, the company’s inaugural customer and partner summit, the service addresses growing network friction by enabling automated, intent-driven connectivity provisioning across multi-cloud environments.

Developed with lead integration partners Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud, Equinix Fabric One utilizes open connectivity standards to support seamless interoperability across hybrid enterprise IT ecosystems. Instead of manually engineering individual network links, organizations can define specific connectivity requirements through digital interfaces, allowing Equinix Fabric One to automatically orchestrate and manage underlying network paths. Concurrently, the company announced Equinix® Inference Exchange to accelerate global enterprise AI infrastructure deployments.

“For decades, enterprise networks have been built one connection at a time for each partner and provider they depend on. That approach doesn’t scale in a world of distributed AI that demands dynamic, flexible and real-time connectivity,” said Chris Audie, Chief Product Officer, Equinix. “Equinix Fabric One will reduce the complexity that’s slowing enterprises down by automatically managing connectivity across distributed architectures, based on the customer’s intent.”

Also Read: Lightyear Debuts First Agentic Platform for Enterprise Telecom Lifecycle

Streamlining Complex Multi-Cloud and AI Network Operations

As modern enterprises expand connections across diverse cloud environments, specialized AI models, and regional facilities, traditional network engineering creates administrative bottlenecks. Equinix Fabric One modernizes this framework by allowing teams to request outcomes through natural-language prompts, developer APIs, automation scripts, or management portals.

Once triggered, the managed service automatically handles routing protocols, cloud interconnections, encryption parameters, network resiliency, and failover mechanics as a unified operational layer.

“Networking is still a key area of enterprise infrastructure that remains heavily dependent on manual design and operations,” said Andrew Buss, Senior Research Director, Cloud and Datacenters, Enterprise Infrastructure at IDC. “Organizations are increasingly looking for ways to simplify and automate how connectivity is provisioned and managed across distributed cloud and AI environments, but achieving this transformation remains a major challenge. Advances that enable more integrated automation and intent-driven approaches can reduce operational complexity and risk while supporting the flexibility modern AI and multicloud architectures require.”

Equinix Fabric One builds upon the company’s vendor-neutral ecosystem, which connects over 10,500 enterprise businesses and approximately 3,000 cloud and IT service providers. The infrastructure currently supports active deployments for eight of the top 10 global AI model developers and nine of the top 10 neocloud providers.

Neutral Architecture Built on Open Standards

Equinix Fabric One leverages the open-source OpenAPI 3.0 Interconnect specification co-developed alongside AWS and Google Cloud to maintain cross-platform interoperability. As enterprise computing transitions toward autonomous agentic architectures, software applications and AI agents can discover, request, and configure network connections programmatically without human intervention.

“Customers shouldn’t have to figure out how to connect across multiple clouds and AI environments on their own,” said Robert Kennedy, Vice President, AWS network services. “They should just define what they need and have it work. Fabric One builds on the open interconnect specification that AWS and Google Cloud helped define and deliver exactly that. A managed service that handles the complexity so customers can focus on their AI workloads, not how everything connects.”

“Cross-cloud interoperability is the backbone of the AI era,” said Rob Enns, Vice President of Engineering, Cloud Networking, Google Cloud. “We helped establish the open interconnect specification so enterprises no longer have to manage the complexity of multi-cloud networking. By combining Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Network capabilities with Equinix Fabric One, we are giving customers an automated, intent-driven network that lets them quickly deploy distributed AI workloads.”

“As technology environments become more distributed, AI workloads and multicloud architectures require connectivity that is flexible, scalable and easier to manage,” said Paul Hager, CEO, Hyundai AutoEver America. “Equinix Fabric One has the potential to accelerate our efforts to meet those needs.”

Rapid proliferation of AI, high-performance computing, and cloud-based applications has resulted in an unprecedented demand for data center bandwidth. With increasing complexity of AI models, the data centers can no longer be siloed in their operations and have to rely on large amounts of ultra-low latency inter-site connectivity to coordinate training clusters and load inference operations.

In order to cope with such increasing demands for inter-site throughput, the network infrastructure company FS launched D7070 series Integrated 800G Muxponder and thus extended its DCI product lineup to 800G line capacity.

The 1U platform consolidates the current 100 GbE and 400GbE client services into four 800G coherent waves, providing 3.2 Tb/s aggregate line capacity across data centers, metro and regional networks. This launch is an important step for the Optical Networking, Telecommunications and Data Center Infrastructure industries, allowing scaling 800G transport into a flexible and open software architecture.

Technical Performance: High-Density 800G Aggregation in a 1U Footprint

The primary engineering achievement behind the D7070 Series is its ability to maximize wavelength efficiency while maintaining low power consumption and flexible multi-rate compatibility. By leveraging 800G CFP2-DCO coherent line modules alongside 800G ZR Tunable DWDM optics, the system enables operators to move high-capacity traffic across dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) infrastructure without requiring a complete overhaul of lower-rate client interfaces.

Also Read: Cloudera and NVIDIA Partner to Accelerate Apache Spark Pipelines and Slash Cloud Compute Spend

The platform introduces several key operational capabilities:

Flexible Multi-Service Aggregation: Accommodates 100G QSFP28 and 400G QSFP112 client pluggables, allowing network operators to pool legacy client links into high-speed 800G trunks.

Open Architecture & Multivendor Management: Features standardized WebGUI and CLI management interfaces designed to integrate seamlessly with third-party Network Management Systems (NMS), preventing vendor lock-in.

Comprehensive DCI Spectrum: Completes an optical transport portfolio spanning rapid 100G point-to-point links (D5110), encrypted 200G OTN transport (D710), compact 400G ZR/ZR+ deployments (D6000), and high-capacity metro transport (D7000).

Transforming the Optical Networking and Telecommunications Industry

The migration of 800G coherent optics from specialized high-end routing cores to versatile DCI muxponders accelerates major structural shifts across the optical transport vendor landscape.

The Shift Toward Coherent Plug-and-Play DCI
For over a decade, scaling inter-data-center bandwidth required deploying complex, proprietary optical line systems that demanded specialized optical engineering teams.

FS’s rollout of an open, pluggable-based 800G muxponder reflects the industry’s transition toward coherent modular transport. By pairing standardized 800ZR/ZR+ technology with standardized management interfaces, optical networking is shifting from closed ecosystem hardware to open, interoperable architectures.

Aligning Transport Infrastructure with AI “Scale-Across” Demands
Historically, data center networking focused on “scale-up” (adding compute inside a chassis) or “scale-out” (adding servers within a hall). The rise of distributed multi-gigawatt AI clusters has popularized scale-across architectures, where multiple physical facilities function as a single logical data center.

Muxponder innovations like the D7070 elevate optical transport from a background utility into a core component of the AI technology stack. Telecommunications providers and cloud service providers (CSPs) are increasingly evaluated on how quickly and efficiently they can deliver high-capacity optical interconnects between distributed compute nodes.

Broad Operational Impact on Enterprise Businesses

For cloud hyperscalers, telecommunications operators, and enterprise IT leads managing bandwidth-intensive applications, adopting 800G DCI transport offers distinct operational and financial advantages:

Protecting Operating Margins Through Capital Efficiency
Deploying physical dark fiber on a regional scale is one of the most capital-intensive elements in network engineering. By Really increasing the throughput per wavelength on existing fiber lines, the need for more fiber leases or civil construction is avoided resulting in protection of the operating margin.

Running Real-Time Hybrid Cloud and AI
When a facility has issues with inter-facility latency or bandwidth, the distributed database synchronization is delayed and the AI model training gets stalled. Deploying high- density 800G optical interconnects ensures there is smooth running of business data across hybrid clouds enabling running of real-time analytics, distributed AI inference, and automated disaster recovery operations without network performance degradation.
