SimplePractice, the leading platform powering independent mental health practitioners, announced Care Aide, an AI-powered clinical workflow assistant designed to help independent practitioners reduce administrative burden and stay focused on care. Developed with input from more than 1,000 mental health practitioners, Care Aide builds on SimplePractice’s HIPAA-compliant Note Taker and introduces new tools that support clinicians across session preparation, documentation, treatment planning, intake review, and client summaries.

By streamlining how practitioners review, engage with, and prepare for treatment, Care Aide seeks to address the heaviest operational drains for private practice clinicians, allowing clinicians to navigate their daily administrative tasks with greater ease. Today’s launch is timely as SimplePractice’s “Annual State of Private Practice Report (2025 in Review)” found that, while overall clinician satisfaction in independent practice remains high, a key challenge is the administrative burden. By designing a solution that combats this, SimplePractice aims to redefine how practitioners balance clinical excellence with operational efficiency.

“AI in healthcare deserves thoughtful, measured implementation,” said Jonathan Seltzer, CEO of SimplePractice. “What we hear consistently from clinicians is that they want technology to act as a tool, not a decision-maker. They need support with the administrative work that takes time away from care, while keeping clinical expertise and judgment exactly where it belongs. Care Aide is built around that principle. It keeps clinicians in control while helping with the practical work of preparation, documentation, treatment planning, and follow-through.”

The suite of tools includes Note Taker, the leading AI-powered note-taking solution among mental health clinicians, plus several advanced AI-powered features:

Session Sidekick: Designed to support better session flow and engagement by creating a customizable, interactive discussion outline live during telehealth sessions that includes key topics from prior notes and upcoming appointments, as well as a session recap.

Client Summaries: Provide clinicians with the option of giving clients summaries of their sessions, which include clear, actionable takeaways and next steps in easy-to-understand language. While Note Taker generates structured progress notes from the session transcript, Client Summaries creates a more client-friendly recap that clinicians can send in just a few clicks.

Treatment Planner: Helps to create treatment plans faster, reducing manual reviewing of clinical documentation, progress notes, and outcome measures, while keeping the clinician in control of care decisions.

Intake Summaries: Mitigates administrative burden during the client intake review process by compiling key details, including reason for visit, scheduling and payment preferences, demographics, and client-reported risk factors, so providers can walk into every first session with a client prepared.

SimplePractice’s AI roadmap is purpose-built to address the most pressing challenges facing independent clinicians. Built on a foundation of security and trust, all SimplePractice AI tools are HIPAA compliant, verified through HITRUST certification, and designed to protect client data with advanced confidentiality and security protocols. Clinicians remain in control and are responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving outputs before they become part of care documentation or are shared with clients. More information is available on the SimplePractice Trust Center.

Consumer Edge, the leading provider of global consumer and healthcare data-driven insights, launched Taurus, a new dataset that tracks hospital procurement of medical devices and related equipment at the brand and model level. Covering approximately $75 billion in annual purchasing spend across roughly 4,500 U.S. healthcare facilities, including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, medical groups and clinics, Taurus provides healthcare investors with direct visibility into hospital purchasing activity, including what is being bought and at what volumes.

“Until now, there has been no single source combining both hospital purchase and claims data, creating a significant blind spot for investors seeking to understand the performance of med-tech companies. Taurus closes that gap,” said Bill Pecoriello, CEO, Consumer Edge. “Combined with our healthcare medical claims and pharmacy claims data, it provides investors with an unprecedented view of healthcare demand and utilization, delivering a level of insight and conviction that was previously unattainable.”

Consumer Edge clients now have healthcare claims data and hospital purchase data within a single platform. Paired with Phoenix (pharmacy claims) and Hydrus (medical claims), Taurus delivers a continuous view of the med-tech space from device purchasing to procedure utilization and how that activity ultimately shows up in manufacturer revenue.

Key capabilities of Taurus include:

Manufacturer- and brand-level share analysis: Track competitive movement within med-tech categories at the manufacturer, brand and model level, showing which companies are gaining traction (or losing ground) and which product generations are driving adoption.

Quarterly earnings back-testing: Pre-built performance analytics in Dash allow users to compare Taurus purchase trends directly against company-reported revenue, validating historical signal strength and sharpening earnings views before results are announced.

Product adoption tracking: As new devices enter the market, Taurus measures how quickly they are being adopted – broken out by region, facility tier and facility type – giving an early read on commercial ramp.

Site-of-care analysis: Purchase volumes can be segmented by facility type, bed size and region, enabling investors to follow the shift in where care is being delivered – from large academic medical centers toward ambulatory surgery centers and outpatient settings.

Best-in-class normalization and backfill adjustment: Consumer Edge’s proprietary methodology accounts for facility network changes and invoice submission lag, isolating true shifts in purchasing volume and ensuring accurate signals.

Vizient® announced it has acquired Empierus, a healthcare-focused advisory firm specializing in information technology (IT) contracting, healthcare technology management and cost optimization. The acquisition builds on Vizient’s continued investment in specialized expertise across indirect spend categories as healthcare organizations face mounting financial and operational pressures across all areas of non-labor spend, including technology-related categories.

As technology investments expand across areas such as cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, healthcare organizations need greater visibility, contracting discipline and proactive management of IT spend. With healthcare organizations spending more than $55 billion annually on IT, the acquisition strengthens Vizient’s ability to help clients bring more technology-related spend under contract, reduce avoidable costs and manage a growing area of operational and financial pressure.

Through an established partnership with Vizient, Empierus helped deliver more than $36 million in savings for Vizient clients in 2025. Empierus employees will join more than 250 experts across indirect spend and purchased services categories to help healthcare organizations optimize spending across a broad range of non-labor areas.

“IT is one of the fastest-growing areas of spend, with much of it unmanaged and off contract,” said Simrit Sandhu, president, spend management, Vizient. “By bringing Empierus into Vizient, we are strengthening our ability to help clients bring more IT spend under contract, manage it more proactively and achieve measurable financial impact.”

MedeAnalytics, the healthcare performance company, announced enhancements to its cross-domain enterprise analytics portfolio spanning all lines of business with innovations to its Medicare Advantage and Employer Group Performance solutions, helping health plans improve visibility, prioritize action, and drive performance across two of their most strategically important businesses: Commercial and Medicare Advantage.

As health plans face growing pressure to reduce costs, optimize utilization, improve quality performance, HEDIS measures, and Star Ratings, all while sustaining growth, many continue to struggle with fragmented data, disconnected operational processes, siloed analytics, and limited visibility across the enterprise. MedeAnalytics addresses those challenges with purpose-built solutions that enable health plans to identify issues sooner, prioritize the highest-impact opportunities, and act faster.

“Health plan executives don’t need more reports. They need greater visibility into what’s driving performance across their organization and the ability to act before issues impact financial and clinical outcomes,” said Steve Grieco, CEO of MedeAnalytics. “These innovations reflect our continued commitment to helping health plans move beyond retrospective analytics and toward proactive enterprise performance management across every line of business.”

Built on MedeAnalytics’ cloud-native Enterprise Health Data Management Platform, powered by its proprietary Health Fabric, these solutions further unify clinical, claims, financial, operational, and SDoH data into a single source of truth, delivering enterprise-wide intelligence that supports faster, more confident decision-making.

Also Read: Ambience Healthcare Expands Chart-Aware Intelligence to Full Inpatient Workflow

Driving Medicare Advantage Performance

While the Medicare Advantage market continues to evolve, it remains one of the most important growth opportunities for health plans. However, increasing regulatory complexity, heightened Star Ratings pressure, rising medical costs, and evolving member expectations have made performance management more challenging than ever.

Enhancements to Medicare Advantage Insights deliver a more comprehensive and targeted view of the factors impacting performance across quality, risk adjustment, utilization, member experience, and financial outcomes. By connecting these traditionally siloed domains, health plans can identify emerging risks earlier, align operational priorities, and prioritize resources toward the interventions most likely to improve member outcomes, Star Ratings, and financial performance.

Strengthening Employer Group Competitiveness and Satisfaction

At the same time, employers are demanding greater transparency, accountability, and value from their healthcare partners.

New innovations within Employer Group Performance enable health plans to better understand and proactively manage employer-specific cost drivers, high-cost claimants, utilization, quality, and engagement trends while proactively identifying and prioritizing opportunities to improve account performance, strengthen retention, and support growth. Through interactive dynamic reporting, benchmarking, and self-service, Employer Group Performance provides executives with actionable intelligence that helps demonstrate value while supporting more strategic employer relationships.

From Enterprise Intelligence to Enterprise Performance

Unlike traditional analytics platforms that stop at reporting, MedeAnalytics combines enterprise data management, cross-domain analytics, native AI, workflow-enabled action, and Strategic Advisory services to help organizations translate intelligence into measurable business outcomes.

The result is a more connected approach to healthcare performance—one that helps health plans improve financial results, optimize utilization, strengthen quality outcomes, manage operational complexity, and maximize the value of existing technology investments.

Ambience Healthcare, the leading intelligence platform for clinical documentation and revenue integrity, announced a significant expansion of chart-aware intelligence across its inpatient platform. Ambience previously introduced chart awareness, enabling AI to read and reason over a patient’s full record rather than the conversation from a single encounter.

With this expansion, chart-aware intelligence now covers every step of the hospital stay, from admission through discharge, synthesizing prior notes, labs, imaging, medications, vitals, and orders across every workflow. The result is documentation that reflects the complexity of a patient’s care and a health system that captures the revenue it has earned.

Inpatient medicine is fundamentally different from the outpatient setting. Hospitalists manage 15 to 20 patients simultaneously, each with evolving diagnoses, shifting labs, and medication changes accumulating day over day. The cognitive load means clinicians often carry yesterday’s note forward rather than synthesizing what changed overnight, and context gets lost between shifts, departments, and care teams. When documentation is incomplete, it cannot be translated into the right billable codes, care gaps emerge, and health systems are not appropriately compensated for the care they actually provided.

Also Read: Octagos Launches Ask Atlas, the First AI Tool Built for Device Clinics to Ask Questions of Their Own Data

Most ambient AI was built for outpatient care, where a clinician enters a room, has a conversation, and the AI generates a note. In roughly half of all inpatient encounters there is no conversation to capture, and even when there is one, non-conversational data, including labs, medication changes, imaging, and prior diagnoses, is what actually drives documentation and care. Ambience’s analysis found that 70% of clinically important inpatient diagnoses have no signal in the transcript. For the diagnoses that matter most for coding and reimbursement, that figure is even higher.

“Hospitalists have never had a tool built for how they actually work,” said Dr. Michael Han, Chief Medical Officer at Ambience Healthcare. “The majority of what drives inpatient documentation never enters a conversation. By bringing chart-aware intelligence across every workflow, we can finally give hospitalists a complete picture of their patients, whether or not a recording is ever captured.”

With Patient Summary now live in the inpatient setting, chart awareness is embedded across the full inpatient arc:

Patient Summary: Before the hospitalist enters the room, Ambience synthesizes the patient’s longitudinal history, giving clinicians the specific context they need to orient quickly to patients.

History and Physical (H&P) Notes: Generates the full H&P from the bedside interaction, if applicable, alongside chart data.

Diagnoses: Surfaces missed conditions and precise ICD-10 codes with supporting evidence in real time, drawing from the bedside interaction, hospital problem list and months of chart data.

Progress Notes: Builds each note from the prior day’s note together with the current bedside interaction (if one occurred) and real-time chart data. A progress note no longer depends on a recording or a copy forward from the prior day.

Hospital Stay Summary: Maintains a running synthesis of the admission to support clean handoffs across the care team.

Discharge Summary: Constructs a final discharge summary from the complete hospital stay in one click, with the option to enrich it via a recorded discharge conversation.

Together, these capabilities make Ambience the only inpatient platform with chart awareness across every step of a patient stay. In evaluations across 66 encounters at four health systems, chart-aware discharge summaries resolved 91% of information gaps that standard documentation had missed.

These chart-aware capabilities have driven measurable adoption at health systems that have deployed the full inpatient solution. At Saint Luke’s Health System, utilization across H&P notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries exceeds 70%, with NPS scores rising 31 points. Nearly one in five Ambience employees is an active or trained clinician, embedded across product development, model training, and clinical validation. Building alongside clinicians is what makes it possible to build tools they actually trust and use.

Octagos announced the launch of Ask Atlas, a new AI intelligence capability allowing cardiac device clinics to query their own remote monitoring data using natural language.

Built on Atlas AI, the intelligence layer of the Octagos platform, Ask Atlas gives care teams a faster and more intuitive way to understand what is happening across their patient population, workflows, and clinic operations. Instead of relying on static reports, data tables, manual chart review, or custom analytics requests, clinicians and administrators can ask direct questions and receive clear, structured answers within seconds.

Ask Atlas is designed for the realities of modern device clinics, where care teams are managing growing transmission volumes, complex patient populations, disconnected workflows, and increasing pressure to do more with limited clinical resources.

Ask Atlas was previewed at the Heart Rhythm Society meeting in April 2026, where Octagos presented a new way for device clinics to interact with their own data.

“Remote monitoring has given clinicians more data than ever before, but access to data is not the same as understanding it,” said Dr. Shanti Bansal, founder and CEO of Octagos. “Ask Atlas gives care teams a way to ask the questions that matter in real time. That kind of direct access to their own data changes how a care team can understand, manage, and act on its own information.”

Octagos pioneered human-in-the-loop AI in cardiac remote monitoring through its Two-Brain Approach, a model powered by Atlas AI and strengthened by IBHRE-certified human expertise. Atlas AI assists in the rapid interpretation of cardiac device transmissions by surfacing clinically relevant findings and structuring reports for efficient review. IBHRE-certified specialists provide clinical oversight and expertise. In peer-reviewed data published in JACC: Advances, Octagos’ Two-Brain Approach demonstrated greater than 99% specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy, significantly outperforming human experts alone.

Ask Atlas brings natural language data access to device clinic operations, allowing clinicians to query recorded clinical and operational data held in the Octagos platform. The tool allows clinicians, administrators, and operational leaders to ask complex questions across their full remote monitoring dataset, including device transmissions, EHR data, clinical context, follow-up activity, workflow status, and billing information using natural language.

Example questions Ask Atlas can answer:

“Which ICD patients have an EF <30% and are not on GDMT?”

“Which patients received ICD shocks in the past 30 days without a scheduled follow-up?”

“Which patients’ AF burden was over 2% and are not on anticoagulants?”

“What is the average battery longevity of our devices by manufacturer and model?”

“Which remote monitoring events qualified for billing but have not been e-signed?”

“AI has changed what people expect from technology: it should help people understand what matters and act on it,” said Haley Chute, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Octagos. “That same shift is happening in cardiac remote monitoring. Since 2020, Atlas AI has helped device clinics streamline workflows, accelerate clinical reporting, and improve patient care. Ask Atlas advances that vision by helping care teams surface insights in their own data at the moment of need, bringing them closer to the answers and context they need to care for patients.”

Canvas Medical, the EMR company accelerating everyday medicine, announced the launch of Canvas Studio, a no code interface powered by Claude Code and the Canvas software developer kit (SDK). Studio lets clinicians and staff build custom electronic medical record (EMR) workflows that act as plugins within the Canvas-certified (CEHRT) platform, enabling safe and effective automation across clinical, operational and financial tasks. Users can design, deploy and iterate using natural language, with no command-line tools or developer expertise required.

Building custom EMR workflows is notoriously labor-intensive, given the rigidity of existing systems and the complexity of healthcare data architecture and integration frameworks. Canvas solves this with its SDK and Deep Unified Data Architecture, dramatically lowering the cost for healthcare organizations to build their own custom EMR on the Canvas platform. With Studio, the final barrier is removed: any end user can extend and customize the EMR without software engineering skills. What once required a multi-year project involving engineers, product managers and designers can now be completed by clinicians and staff in a few hours.

A primary care practice, for example, can use Studio to align the requirements of value-based care programs they participate in with coding automation in their visit notes. A psychiatry practice could build custom visualizations of PHQ-9 or GAD-7 survey results, and automate tasks for patient follow-up based on specified quantitative thresholds of results. A weight-loss practice could create context-aware automation of GLP-1 treatment plans, enabling standing orders for common treatment programs. These reduce costly back and forth within the practice and reduce cognitive burden on clinicians, allowing the care team to operate at the top of their license while removing administrative costs.

“Unlocking the benefits of healthcare AI in traditional medical groups and specialty practices requires the right tools and context to be available to agents,” said Adam Farren, CEO of Canvas Medical. “We’ve built the Canvas SDK to provide that, and Studio unlocks this value for end users. Clinicians and staff can apply their domain expertise to create more personalized and adaptable EMR workflows. In the immediate term, we expect a lot more EMR customization to happen a lot faster, and beyond that, we expect our customers to begin using their specific clinical and operational knowledge to start building their own custom agents.”

Key capabilities of Studio include:

Deep access to context: Built on the Canvas platform, Studio gives access to the structured patient data, clinical workflows and controls that make up a patient’s medical record.

Best-in-class AI-assisted coding tools: Studio is built with Anthropic’s tools and models, and will continue to improve as the quality and efficiency of models for AI-assisted coding get better.

Natural language interface: Users describe what they want to build in words, and Studio generates code, deploys to a sandbox instance and enables rapid iteration without command-line tools or developer environment setup.

Agentic workflow automation: Plugins built in Studio can integrate directly with large language models and third-party AI services to automate clinical, operational and financial workflows.

Open source reference plugins: Canvas has published a library of prebuilt, open source reference plugins that serve as a jumping-off point for users of Studio to build their own tailored versions, quickly and effectively.

Trisk Bio and NanoMosaic have announced a strategic partnership to integrate NanoMosaic’s Tessie analytics platform into Trisk Bio’s adeno-associated virus (AAV) development and manufacturing workflows. The collaboration will support process development, quality control, and release testing services across Trisk’s gene therapy manufacturing operations. Trisk adopted the Tessie platform ahead of its broader market recognition and prior to the FDA CBER granting the technology an Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) designation in January 2026 the first such recognition in AAV analytics. The companies believe the partnership will help improve the accuracy of measuring critical quality attributes in gene therapy manufacturing, an area where traditional analytics can produce inconsistent results.

“We are pleased to see the FDA validate the advantages that have been clear to us from our first engagements with NanoMosaic,” said Gaurav Venkataraman, Trisk Bio CEO. “Trisk is oriented around helping our clients become successful by providing high-quality material and de-risking manufacturing from the start. Legacy AAV analytics can misread critical quality attributes by orders of magnitude. It’s critical that our clients’ programmes rest on technology yielding the most accurate possible measurements.”

Basata, the AI company rebuilding the operational layer of US healthcare, announced a $21 million Series A led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Cowboy Ventures, PHX Ventures, Zenda Capital, and Victoria Treyger. The round brings total funding to $24.5 million.

Basata’s AI agents handle the administrative work still running on fax machines and phone calls, like referrals, intake, patient scheduling, and follow-up end to end. A referral arrives by fax, Basata extracts the patient details and creates a chart in the EHR, an AI voice agent calls the patient, and the appointment is booked in minutes instead of weeks. The company has served more than 500,000 patients to date, including 100,000 in the past month, and works with providers some of the largest specialty groups in the country across cardiology, urology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and growing.

Practices using Basata process 100% of incoming referrals the same day, unlock 50% more administrative labor capacity, and reduce time-to-first-patient-contact from weeks to minutes. Roughly 70% of new sales come from customer referrals.

“Healthcare administration is one of the most consequential and least supported workforces in America,” said Kaled Alhanafi, co-founder and CEO of Basata. “We didn’t build Basata to replace administrators. We built it for them. ‘Basata’ is Arabic for simplicity, and that is what these teams deserve.”

Basata’s founding team came together around a shared conviction that healthcare’s biggest failures aren’t clinical, they’re operational. The country’s clinicians and administrators are world-class; the tools they have been handed are not. CEO Kaled Alhanafi lost his mother as a young adult to a healthcare administrative error. Co-founder Chetan, a former principal engineer at Medtronic, watched his wife wait months to see a cardiologist. Co-founder Vivin, a Computer Science PhD, saw his wife endure the same broken referral process.

That conviction shapes how the company builds. “Our Forward-Deployed Engineer returned from two weeks onsite at a customer site, eyes bloodshot, after manually processing referrals and faxes all day,” said Chetan Patel, co-founder and president of Basata. “It proved that if you aren’t in the trenches, you’ll never grasp how intense this workload is. Building in a bubble fails. We design tech that works because we are on the ground with our customers. This is why so many practices are trusting us with their workflows.”

Customers feel the difference. “Before Basata, we regularly had a backlog of 500+ unprocessed referrals, some waiting for months,” said Rich Bondi, CEO of Southwest Cardiovascular Associates. “Once Basata came in, the backlog went to zero. We’ve seen an 18% boost in new patient conversions because patients are contacted right away. Basata truly transformed our patient care.”

The new funding will enable Basata to scale what’s already working in tackling the $1 trillion operational layer of US healthcare end to end, replacing the patchwork of point solutions practices have stitched together with a single system built alongside the administrators who use it every day.

“It’s 2026, self-driving cars can navigate my city, but patients still have to fight through hold music and fax machines to get care,” said Alhanafi. “That’s the disconnect we’re fixing. In the next decade, healthcare operations will become fully autonomous. Intake, scheduling, coordination, and billing will just happen in the background, and patients will finally experience what exceptional healthcare actually feels like.”
