LookDeep Health Launches aimee™, First AI Agent for Hospitals

LookDeep

LookDeep, a Silicon Valley AI company focused on hospital care, unveiled aimee, the first staff and patient assistant that combines sight, sound, and language to support patients and work for clinical teams in real time.

aimee is a breakthrough in human-centered hospital AI. Most smart hospital tools focus on devices and infrastructure, and most AI assistants work only with existing data in the system. aimee is different: she observes the real world and works in real time alongside nurses, doctors, and patients, adapting to the pace and unpredictability of care. aimee integrates with today’s hospital systems including EHR, nurse-call, and many smart devices  as well as the AI agents of the future that will extend care from hospital to home.

aimee can see and hear what is happening in the room such as a patient starting to get out of bed, food in the room of someone awaiting surgery, or a conversation between a doctor and a patient and respond only when needed through action or observation. Staff can engage aimee to check on a patient, patients can call for her when needed, and she can join automatically during critical moments, always working in step with the care team.

“Healthcare innovation typically advances in incremental steps, but aimee feels like a leap forward,” said Maria Russo, MBA, Chief Information Officer at OU Health. “aimee has the potential of being an AI assistant that can understand the room, speak with empathy, and integrate into caregiver workflows, which is a transformative shift for hospitals.”

“In hospitals, the moments that matter most can’t be scheduled or scripted. We built aimee to be ready for them able to see, hear, and respond in real time. I know how much that matters: I spent a thousand hours with my mom in the hospital, never knowing which moment would suddenly matter most,” said Narinder Singh, co-founder and CEO of LookDeep. “The pace of AI in Silicon Valley dwarfs every previous technology paradigm and shapes every aspect of what aimee can do. We keep up so hospitals can focus on care and aimee brings that same vigilance and drive to every patient, and every team that cares for them.”

aimee’s Role in the Hospital

Staff Amplifier – For care teams, aimee is a virtual assistant with real-time awareness of the room. She can be sent to check pain levels, remind patients about breathing exercises, or act on what she sees happening.

Patient Companion – aimee is available 24/7 in more than 50 languages. Tuned for empathy and never giving medical advice, she can translate, explain, remind, or simply listen, while keeping staff informed. From asking for water, to sharing worries about an upcoming procedure, or just talking to fill the loneliness, aimee supports patients while keeping the care team informed.

Clinical Context and Support – With co-development partner Nexus Bedside, aimee is also being enriched with specialty-tailored training modules for areas such as orthopedics, neurosciences, perioperative, and oncology care. Educational extensions will also provide real-time, scenario-based teaching for clinical learners.

“Running a hospital for over 30 years, I saw the strain our nurses faced every day, and my own experience as a cancer patient cemented how much more we can do for the patient,” said Akram Boutros, MD, FACHE, CEO and Co-Founder of Nexus Bedside. “The potential for aimee is nothing less than redefining the care paradigm and patient experience from the largest academic medical centers to the smallest of rural hospitals to care that comes to you in the home.”
