Through this collaboration, the AI tools and technologies of Anthropic, mainly its flagship model Claude and its code, specific model Claude Code, will be an integral part of CodePath’s educational offerings, thus impacting the education of over 20, 000 students from community colleges, state universities, and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
The program is a step towards reimagining coding education by using AI tools that are rapidly changing software development. Students taking the new courses on foundational computer science, AI engineering applications, and open, source capstone projects will learn how to use Claude for development. It should be pointed out that over 40% of CodePath students come from families with annual incomes below $50, 000, so this partnership is also positioned as an equity, focused initiative aimed at providing underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students with access to advanced tech education.
As a part of the launch, CodePath will incorporate Claude and Claude Code directly into its curriculum and career services.
