Oracle has launched Fusion Agentic Applications, a new generation of AI-driven enterprise software that promises to go beyond conventional automation and deliver applications that are not only able to reason, decide, and act on their own but also achieve business outcomes. Fusion Agentic Applications, which are integrated within Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, feature a team of specialized AI agents that work together for finance, HR, supply chain, and customer experience applications.
Unlike conventional AI assistants or copilots that offer recommendations, Fusion Agentic Applications are embedded within transactional systems, which enables them to execute business processes in real-time, taking into account governance, security, and approval processes. The applications analyze, decide, and act, moving business processes forward, and only highlight critical decisions that need human judgment.
“The way work gets done no longer matches the speed, complexity, or expectations of modern business as too much time is spent managing processes instead of driving outcomes,” said Steve Miranda, executive vice president of Applications Development at Oracle. “With Fusion Agentic Applications, we are moving enterprise software beyond passive systems of record and providing our customers with applications that can reason, decide, and act in pursuit of defined business objectives.”
The initial set of 22 agentic applications are built for particular use cases, for example, workforce scheduling, payroll issues in HR, cash collection in finance, and supplier sourcing in supply chain operations. These applications are built with a shared context in mind, which facilitates continuous reasoning and execution, as opposed to isolated task automation.
To support these agentic applications, Oracle offers a product called Oracle AI Agent Studio, which enables organizations to build, customize, and deploy their agentic applications without the need for coding, utilizing reusable components and natural language interfaces.

Implications for the IT Industry
Oracle’s announcement marks a major milestone in the IT landscape, as it signifies a major shift toward agentic and outcome-oriented enterprise software. Traditionally, enterprise software has been a system of record, recording and organizing information but requiring a lot of human intervention to make sense of it and act upon it.
This is now changing with agentic software, as it promises a new era of systems of execution, where AI plays a crucial role. This is part of a larger industry-wide trend, as companies compete to deliver AI at a deeper level of incorporation within their enterprise software rather than simply as a veneer or a feature.
This presents a new range of considerations and requirements for IT leaders, as they must now consider how to best orchestrate and deliver upon this vision of multiple AI agents working across business functions. In addition, they must consider a new architecture of continuous and real-time decision-making rather than batch processing and human intervention.
The emergence of agentic software is also seen as a major growth area for low-code and no-code development platforms for AI.
Broader Business Impact
For businesses, the potential of the Oracle Fusion Agentic Applications is to enable significant improvement in business efficiencies and the speed of business decisions. By automating routine business functions, data entry, and workflow, businesses are able to eliminate routine work and enable employees to be more productive in terms of strategy and innovation.
In the case of the HR department, agentic applications have the potential to eliminate routine work in terms of scheduling, payroll, and responding to the needs of employees. Similarly, in the finance and supply chain functions, agentic applications have the potential to optimize cash flow, costs, and risks.
Furthermore, the ability to analyze data and adapt workflows in real-time also has the potential to enable the business to be more agile and responsive to changing business conditions. This is particularly important in terms of business environments where the rate of change is rapid, and the business has to be responsive to changing conditions to be competitive.
However, the emergence of autonomous systems also has the potential to create issues of trust, accountability, and governance in terms of the decisions that are being made by the autonomous systems.
The Future of Agentic Enterprise Software
Oracle’s Fusion Agentic Applications highlight a defining trend in enterprise technology: the transition from automation to autonomous, outcome-oriented systems. As AI continues to evolve, enterprise software is expected to become more proactive, intelligent, and deeply integrated into business operations.
For the IT industry and businesses alike, this marks the beginning of a new era where AI is not just a tool for efficiency but a core driver of execution and value creation. Organizations that successfully adopt and govern these technologies will be better positioned to achieve faster outcomes, improve productivity, and remain competitive in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
