Peer Software Introduces New Features to PeerGFS for Enterprise Data Orchestration

Nutanix .NEXT, Peer Software, an enterprise provider of distributed data management and file synchronization solutions, announced the latest release of its flagship solution, Peer Global File Service (PeerGFS). New capabilities include:

  • Integrated data automation for multi-vendor storage environments utilizing both Server Message Block (SMB) and Network File System (NFS) protocols
  • Support for Linux file server platforms
  • Advanced data management and storage optimization for edge locations

This latest edition of PeerGFS builds on a heritage of simplifying data interoperability highlighted by multi-protocol replication that powers simultaneous access to the same data volume via both SMB and NFS protocols across multiple storage systems and geographic distances. This is particularly impactful for AI workflows, where data is often ingested at the edge using SMB and processed centrally using Linux-based tools that typically require NFS.

“Multi-protocol support breaks down barriers that have long forced IT teams to create redundant copies of data for different applications or environments,” said Jimmy Tam, CEO, Peer Software. “Now, whether you’re ingesting data via SMB at the edge or analyzing it with AI engines using NFS-based storage in the core or cloud, PeerGFS ensures a single, synchronized and accessible dataset.”

Peer Software customers in sectors such as finance, media and entertainment, healthcare, life sciences, and research are already seeing the benefits. One example: a medical organization now ingests patient MRI scans at local hospitals on SMB-based storage and seamlessly synchronizes that data to centralized NFS-based storage for analysis with AI without the need for redundant volumes or manual data transfers. This reduces wait times for diagnosis and positively impacts patient outcomes.
