1Finity, a Fujitsu company and global leader in network solutions, together with Fujitsu, has announced the launch of the Open Networking Innovation Center–Americas (ONIC-Americas). Supported by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the new center extends the success of ONIC-Europe in Germany and strengthens 1Finity’s global innovation footprint. The facility aims to drive collaboration among network operators, technology vendors, system integrators, and enterprises, while accelerating the adoption of multivendor, low-power, high-capacity networking solutions. A key focus will be advancing industry knowledge of Open All-Photonics Networking (APN) and the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) initiatives.
With network operators under pressure to meet increasing digital infrastructure demands, the challenge lies in achieving true multivendor interoperability alongside reduced latency, higher transmission speeds, and improved energy efficiency. ONIC-Americas is designed to address these challenges by enabling multivendor equipment testing, validating interoperability, and showcasing next-generation technologies that deliver sustainable, reliable, and high-performance connectivity.

The ONIC-Americas Lab, opening in November 2025, will provide a collaborative environment for real-world interoperability testing. Participants can bring their own equipment to validate integration across diverse vendor ecosystems, with a strong emphasis on key use cases such as IP-over-DWDM.
The lab will also feature advanced demonstrations including:
-
Energy-efficient 1.2Tbps transmission using 1Finity’s T900 series liquid-cooled transponder
-
All-Photonics Network (APN) innovations such as remote optical monitoring and latency optimization
-
AI-powered Accelerated Root Cause Analysis (aRCA) for proactive alarm management and network troubleshooting
These demonstrations are designed to give stakeholders direct insights into the future of sustainable and scalable network infrastructures.
“The 1Finity Open Networking Innovation Center – Americas will be a catalyst for innovation, enabling a truly collaborative experience where the brightest minds in networking can come together to envision the future of connectivity,” said Rod Naphan, Chief Revenue Officer and Head of Network Customer Success Unit at 1Finity Inc. “This center underscores our commitment to driving open standards, fostering interoperability and promoting environmentally conscious networking practices. We’re excited to welcome industry visitors to help shape the future of open, sustainable, multivendor networks for the benefit of our entire ecosystem.”
