Cavli Wireless, a worldwide leader in end-to-end IoT solutions that include connectivity, hardware, and software, has broadened its portfolio of LTE Cat 1bis modules to address the increasing need for scalable, cost-effective, and power-efficient IoT connectivity solutions. The new portfolio includes the CQ16, C16QS, and C17QS modules.
Designed for reliability and flexibility of deployment, Cavli’s Cat 1bis series of modules combines the usual industry-standard LTE speeds with power consumption optimized for a wide range of applications, from asset tracking and smart metering to industrial monitoring and logistics. The Cat 1bis series of modules is designed to provide downlink speeds of up to 10 Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 5 Mbps, and are FreeRTOS compatible, with optional integrated SIM and LGA and mPCIe form factors.
By combining streamlined hardware design with cost-effective performance and extended battery life through advanced power-saving modes such as eDRX, sleep, and hibernate, the Cat 1bis portfolio enables device manufacturers to scale IoT deployments globally while reducing system complexity and total operating costs.
The CQ16 is tailored for space-constrained and value-focused applications, offering an ultra-small form factor suitable for basic connectivity use cases that may not require GNSS capabilities, yet still support Wi-Fi scanning functionality.

The C16QS builds on this foundation with broad deployment flexibility and multiple form factor options including LGA, Mini-PCIe, and USB dongle configurations. With integrated eSIM for global connectivity and optional GNSS support, this module addresses mobility-centric needs in asset tracking, logistics, and similar applications.
Rounding out the portfolio, the C17QS offers higher performance and expanded memory, making it well-suited for complex IoT solutions. It includes dual-band GNSS capabilities for enhanced positioning accuracy and supports on-module SDK integration, enabling application logic to run directly on the module and reducing dependency on external microcontrollers thereby lowering the bill of materials and streamlining product architecture.
The integrated Cat 1bis modules also provide compatibility with Cavli Hubble, the company’s unified connectivity and modem management platform that simplifies global IoT operations with features such as remote monitoring, intelligent messaging services and scalable device management.
John Mathew, CEO and Chief Technology Architect of Cavli Wireless, highlighted the significance of this portfolio expansion: “Cavli’s Cat 1bis module series is a major leap forward for our IoT module portfolio. By combining LTE Cat 1bis technology with diverse form factors, GNSS capabilities, SDK support, and the Cavli Hubble connectivity and modem management platform, we are offering a product line built to efficiently, reliably, and durably meet the evolving needs of various IoT applications, even in the most demanding settings.”
