The system also provides cost savings by targeting treatments to sick animals rather than administering antibiotics to the entire herd, benefiting veterinarians, bankers, and insurers who can monitor individual animals or herds remotely.

The Digi X-ON platform facilitates communication over long distances, covering large areas like 250,000-head feed yards or 40,000-acre ranches, without interference from structures or buildings.
Rohrmoser highlighted the role of Digi’s WDS custom engineering services in developing the tag for animal health monitoring, which uses Digi XBee® LR for LoRaWAN. The pre-activated XBee module allows quick and easy tag activation when cattle enter the feedlot, a key advantage of Digi X-ON’s scan-and-go provisioning.
