GCT Semiconductor Holding Inc., a leading provider of cutting-edge 4G and 5G semiconductor solutions, has announced a strategic collaboration with Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), a global leader in eSIM technology. Together, the companies are introducing an innovative SGP.32-compliant eSIM solution integrated with IPAd (Integrated Profile Activation Device) functionality—enabling seamless, intelligent connectivity for multi-network IoT devices.
This partnership brings to market a transformative solution that embeds eSIM capabilities directly into 4G and 5G chipsets, allowing IoT devices—especially headless ones without user interfaces—to achieve automated, location-aware connectivity. This is especially valuable for mission-critical applications where performance must adapt based on local network availability, cost efficiency, and predefined policies.
The new solution will be embedded across all future GCT 4G and 5G chipsets, enabling flexible, out-of-the-box device provisioning and lifecycle management without requiring physical SIM replacements or manual configuration.
SGP.32, the latest technical specification for IoT eSIMs from GSMA, sets a global benchmark for secure, interoperable, and scalable IoT deployments. By tightly integrating G+D’s IPAd functionality with GCT’s advanced silicon, the joint solution addresses one of the biggest limitations in today’s IoT landscape—connectivity for devices without a user interface.

“The adoption of eSIM technology in IoT devices and wearables has become increasingly popular, driven by the new capabilities of remote SIM,” said John Schlaefer, CEO of GCT. “However, many IoT devices lack a user interface to fully access this functionality – a challenge that IPAd effectively addresses. We look forward to working closely with G+D to provide advanced device flexibility and improved security for the growing market of IoT products worldwide.”
G+D brings deep experience to this collaboration, having introduced the industry’s first eSIM in 2012 and facilitating over 500 million eSIM downloads since then.
“The eSIM market continues to grow, both in importance and size, and is one of the core connectivity solutions of the future especially in the IoT area. Since introducing the first eSIM in 2012, and to date having provided over 500 million eSIM downloads, G+D has pioneered this space with solution innovation and by driving industry adoption and collaboration,” said BeeGek Lim, Global Head of Digital Connectivity Solutions at G+D. “To stay at the forefront of this technology it is important to collaborate with the right partners. We are pleased to work closely with GCT to continue to define and shape the cellular connected future of the IoT.”
As IoT devices continue to proliferate across sectors—from industrial automation to smart cities and connected wearables—this new eSIM solution offers a scalable path toward intelligent, policy-driven connectivity. The GCT-G+D collaboration is poised to accelerate global IoT adoption by removing friction points and enhancing network reliability and security.
