Mavenir, a network software provider building the future of networking with cloud-native solutions that run on any cloud, is recognized by the U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has won two awards at the 2023 5G Challenge, a competition sponsored by the United States Department of Defense (DoD). During the closing ceremony held on September 21st at the Cable Lab/Clio facility in Boulder, Colorado, Mavenir announced the completion of two Mobility and Handover Tests, Open RAN Central Unit (CU) and Distributed Unit (DU) wraparound tests. It was announced that they had won two awards. – Mavenir’s total prize pool will be $850,000.
The 2023 5G Challenge includes interoperability testing, testing of open interfaces between subsystems of the Open RAN specification, radio units (RU), combined centralized and distributed units (CU+DU), and end-to-end integration, Emphasis was placed on multivendor interoperability, including testing handovers between different vendors.
