196 Provider FQHC Offers More Accessible Care and Increases Patient Engagement with eClinicalWorks Cloud EHR and healow Solutions

eClinicalWorks

eClinicalWorks, the largest ambulatory cloud EHR, announced the recent successes of its partnership with legacy user Mountain Park Health Center – the largest health center in the Goodyear, Tempe, and Phoenix area. Mountain Park Health Center supports its community with a range of services from primary care, adult medicine, and women’s health to pediatrics, dental, and integrated health services. The center serves more than 100,000 patients, with almost 400,000 encounters per year. Seeing this many patients can pose an administrative challenge, but the eClinicalWorks EHR and healow patient engagement solutions help the center ensure proactive and accessible care.

In the last few years, eClinicalWorks’ health IT solutions have drastically improved patient engagement for Mountain Park Health Center’s dental, vision, and behavioral health services. After adding text message reminders and a link to providers’ calendars, online appointment booking increased from 40% to 61%. The solutions also help the practice survey no-show patients, providing insight into what keeps them from attending their appointments.

“Since our partnership began 12 years ago, we have transformed our operations through eClinicalWorks’ innovative and thoughtful solutions, which allows us to efficiently prioritize our patients by meeting them where they are and improving the quality of care,” said Amy Nuñez, IT director of clinical applications and training, Mountain Park Health Center. “With healow Open Access, we drastically increased the overall number of appointments by providing patients access to providers’ availability. This has improved compliance rates, which ultimately improves patients’ health outcomes.”

As a vital federally qualified health center (FQHC) to the Arizona population, Mountain Park leverages these eClinicalWorks’ healthcare IT features to provide top-notch accessible, and affordable services to its patients:

  • healow Open Access, an online appointment booking solution allows patients to book appointments directly from a practice website. With this feature, Mountain Park has improved online visibility, reduced no-shows, and increased patient and provider satisfaction.
  • Patient Messenger, a digital tool accessed through the eClinicalWorks EHR and Patient Portal that improves patient engagement through secure and interactive surveys and health reminders.
  • healow CHECK-INa convenient and contactless solution that lets patients begin the check-in process before they arrive for the appointment, including reviewing pre-appointment documents, confirming insurance, signing consent forms, and filling out questionnaires.

“Thanks to the patient portal’s accessibility, we grew our active users by 100% in the past year, reaching 44,000 overall users,” continued Nunez. “Consolidating medical notes, reminders, and results for this many patients into one platform expands our efficiency from both an administrative and clinical perspective.”
