Checkmarx Launches Developer Assist Agent for AI IDEs

Checkmarx

Checkmarx, a recognized leader in agentic AI-powered application security, has officially announced the general availability of its Checkmarx One Developer Assist agent. The solution now offers extensions for leading AI-native Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) including Windsurf by Cognition, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.

Checkmarx One Developer Assist is designed to provide real-time, context-aware prevention, remediation, and guidance directly within the developer’s IDE. Integrated as part of the Checkmarx One platform, this solution empowers engineering teams to detect, analyze, and remediate AI-generated code vulnerabilities from the outset, accelerating software delivery without compromising security.

“With AI now generating a majority of new code in enterprise environments, traditional security approaches can’t keep pace and will be overwhelmed,” said Jonathan Rende, chief product officer at Checkmarx. “We are focused on ensuring protection starts at the source whether generated by humans or AI by putting more power into developers’ hands to identify and remediate issues in real-time.”

The first release of Developer Assist plugins supports popular AI-native coding environments such as Windsurf, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot. These integrations allow developers to access autonomous, real-time prevention and instant remediation directly within their primary coding tools, streamlining the development workflow.

During the early-access program, enterprise customers across healthcare, financial services, and consumer products sectors reported significant improvements in accuracy and speed of threat detection, along with faster issue resolution.

“We are very excited about the feedback from customers who have early access to Checkmarx One Developer Assist,” said Ori Bendet, vice president of product management at Checkmarx. “Developers report faster detection and improved insights. Our goal is to deliver a security-savvy teammate built into their workflow and to reduce the toil of manual processes.”

As AI-driven code generation continues to rise, so do the associated security challenges risks that traditional manual reviews cannot address at scale. Checkmarx One Developer Assist automates the full security lifecycle, including detection, analysis, and remediation, keeping pace with the rapid speed of AI-generated development.
