Obsidian Security announces the appointment of Khanh Tran as its new Chief Product Officer (CPO). As the former CPO of JumpCloud and VP of Product Management at CrowdStrike, Tran brings over two decades of experience in security product management and building successful companies. In addition to these corporate accomplishments, Tran has served as an investor and advisor to several startups, with a proven track record for driving growth. Also joining Khanh at Obsidian are two former product leaders from Crowdstrike, Rekha Das and Alex Graul. Das will be leading Obsidian’s platform, partner, and agentic AI investments ahead of new SaaS challenges posed by agentic AI. Graul will lead UX design and UI engineering, focusing on simplifying the SaaS security problem for all users participating in the shared responsibility model.
As businesses increasingly rely on SaaS, they face growing challenges in finding and securing federated, unfederated, and unsanctioned applications. The shared responsibility model places the burden of data protection on customers, while complex SaaS-to-SaaS integrations demand modern security solutions. This is more pressing than ever with the emergence of agentic AI—this new classification of identity will require stringent authentication and permissions. Application owners optimize SaaS for value, but often lack the tools and expertise to govern access to sensitive data. Despite investments in Zero Trust, current approaches fall short in addressing SaaS-specific risks. Threat actors and regulators alike are now focusing on critical gaps in configuration, monitoring, shadow IT, and account governance.

The business agility from SaaS presents a new security frontier,” said Obsidian CEO, Hasan Imam. “In my earliest conversations with Khanh, it was clear that his innovative vision and dedication to protecting customers will deliver on our mission to build digital resilience across SaaS for any human, non-human, and agentic identity.”
Obsidian Security’s proprietary Knowledge Graph is built on a deep understanding of SaaS identities and their integrations to normalize unstructured logs. Obsidian Security is the only comprehensive platform that is purpose-built to solve the whole spectrum of SaaS security: prevention, discovery, posture, integration risk, detection, and response.
“I’m no stranger to the cybersecurity landscape. It’s never static, nor predictable,” said Tran. “With its identity-centric perspective and more real-world breach insights than any other solution out there, Obsidian Security is already ahead of the SaaS security curve. I’m committed to protecting our customers’ today and continuously improving our solutions to win against the threats of tomorrow.”
