The acquisition brings artificial intelligence (AI) to Threat-Informed Defense, speeding and simplifying threat intelligence analysis
Zero-Shot Security’s signature product, Natural Attack Reading and Comprehension (NARC), will natively integrate into Tidal Cyber’s Enterprise Edition platform to eventually be available to all customers. NARC is a large language model (LLM) based reasoning system that maps threat behaviors to MITRE ATT&CK® techniques with high accuracy and speed. By automating the processing of threat intelligence and keeping pace with new ATT&CK versions, security teams can now accomplish in minutes what typically takes hours of manual work by skilled analysts.
“As we set out to enhance Tidal Cyber solutions, Zero-Shot Security was the only one to provide comprehensive and accurate data in a timely manner and the only one capable of scaling with us to meet customers’ needs,” said Frank Duff, Chief Innovation Officer and Co-Founder of Tidal Cyber. “We used Zero-Shot Security in our day-to-day operations, so when the time came, it was a natural fit. I look forward to Harrison’s leadership as Director of AI as his expertise in both AI and MITRE ATT&CK will enhance Tidal Cyber’s offerings and lead us into this new chapter.”

Zero-Shot Security’s state-of-the-art AI capability solidifies Tidal Cyber’s leadership in the Threat-Informed Defense space as it expands the application of insights and helps key workflows around cyber threat intelligence (CTI) analysis, allowing users to easily understand threat intelligence and take action.
“As a long-time member of the security industry, I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t when it comes to the evolution of threat intelligence. I experienced firsthand the challenge of dedicating the necessary time and resources to create a comprehensive program, which led me to create Zero-Shot Security,” said Harrison Van Riper, founder of Zero-Shot Security and Director of AI for Tidal Cyber. “Zero-Shot Security and Tidal Cyber have the same mission: helping security teams be more effective with the resources they have. I am excited to join the team as there is an opportunity to integrate AI not only into Tidal Cyber’s products but strategically throughout our organization to help accelerate workflows and better service our users.”
This acquisition comes on the heels of strategic investments from USAA Today and Capital One Ventures to fuel continued company growth. In addition, Tidal Cyber continuously enhances its Threat-Informed Defense capabilities, as the company also recently announced the integration of test results from Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) tools and other sources into its Enterprise Edition platform.
