Cutting-edge integration modernizes software development by using AI to automate workflows and rapidly detect issues
New Relic, the Intelligent Observability company, has announced a strategic integration with GitHub Copilot’s latest innovation—the coding agent. This advanced integration marks a major leap forward in automating the software development lifecycle by combining the power of observability with agentic AI. The collaboration helps enterprises shift away from reactive processes and toward a proactive, AI-first approach that drives continuous improvement, heightened reliability, and enhanced developer productivity.
“Agentic AI is poised to be a transformative technology for enterprise software developers and engineers, who are facing intense pressure to ship more innovations at a faster pace without sacrificing quality and reliability,” said New Relic Chief Product Officer Manav Khurana. “With the innovative integration of New Relic’s intelligent observability technology with GitHub Copilot coding agent, we are closing the loop on ensuring continued application health. Together with our long time partner GitHub, we are providing a new, agentic way for modern software development that uses the power of agentic AI to transform the way enterprises innovate.”
Driving Automation Across the Software Lifecycle
The joint solution streamlines mission-critical processes—from change detection and issue creation to code remediation and validation. Leveraging New Relic’s observability platform, the integration continuously monitors code deployments to identify any performance degradation. Once an anomaly is detected, New Relic isolates the root cause and automatically generates a detailed GitHub issue, complete with all relevant context.
Developers can then review and assign the issue to GitHub Copilot, which analyzes the information, drafts a proposed fix, and opens a pull request for human approval. After the change is merged, New Relic validates the resolution, closing the feedback loop and reinforcing continuous application health.
