Forrester recommendations when selecting a SAM solution

Forrester recommends “prioritizing SAM vendors with the following capabilities:

  • AI/ML-supported contract and license management
  • SaaS management with advanced FinOps capabilities
  • Support of the entire software lifecycle management.”

The USU provider profile states, among other things: “USU… has evolved from a pure SAM solution to a comprehensive IT Asset Management (ITAM) platform that offers transparency and optimization for Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset Management (SAM) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a central role in innovation, improving both user-facing functions such as SAM chatbots and knowledge tools as well as backend processes such as EULA and SaaS license recognition.”

Current offer and strengths of the USU solution

The US analysts describe the current SAM offering as follows: “USU supports both agent-based and agentless detection and draws usage data directly from sources such as Microsoft 365. The customizable normalization process tracks assets both on-premises and in the cloud, while product usage rights make it easier to track license entitlements. Financial functions such as cash flow management, depreciation and cost allocation enable a complete overview of software spending. USU identifies optimization opportunities for licenses both during procurement and during ongoing operations.”

USU CEO: Confirmation of strategic direction

“This award confirms our strategy of integrating software asset management into comprehensive IT asset management,” says Dr. Benjamin Strehl, CEO of USU GmbH. “With innovative AI and FinOps technologies, we help companies to efficiently manage their software costs.”
