Alight, Inc. has announced a multi-year strategic collaboration with IBM to deploy IBM’s watsonx enterprise AI platform within Alight’s benefit-administration and employee-experience ecosystem. The expanded partnership will create a virtual AI innovation lab, bringing together specialists from both companies and Alight’s clients to rapidly prototype new agentic-AI solutions, re-engineer business processes and optimise workplace workflows. As noted in the release, initial prototypes of the Alight Worklife® AI Assistant experience “have shown potential to increase employee productivity by over 90%,” with pilot roll-out slated for early 2026 and a broader rollout expected in the first half of the year. Alight CEO Dave Guilmette said: “This collaboration with IBM represents a pivotal moment in delivering high-tech innovation with human touch across our platform… By embedding IBM watsonx enterprise AI throughout our portfolio of solutions … we are transforming how employers assess and measure the impact of their offerings and how employees experience their benefits.”

The initiative will leverage IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate platform and Agent Catalog, enabling more than 500 tools and domain-specific AI agents to automate workflows across Alight’s systems and services. The collaboration focuses on four innovation domains: embedding AI in Alight Worklife to power personalised chat and task automation; modernising benefits administration with streamlined data models and decision-making; enhancing the Alight colleague experience by automating HR/IT tasks; and advancing delivery through generative and agentic AI to transform business processes for higher employer and employee satisfaction.
