Anthropic Commits $50 Billion to U.S. AI Infrastructure Expansion

Anthropic

In a significant move to bolster U.S. AI leadership, Anthropic announced a $50 billion investment in American computing infrastructure, partnering with Fluidstack to build custom-built data centres in Texas and New York (with additional sites to follow) designed to optimise workloads while enabling its frontier-scale R&D. The initiative is forecast to create approximately 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs across the rollout, slated to begin operations throughout 2026, and supports the U.S. government’s drive under the AI Action Plan to reinforce domestic technology competitiveness. As Anthropic scales its enterprise footprint serving more than 300,000 business customers and achieving a nearly seven-fold jump in large accounts year-over-year the company emphasises its focus on safety, alignment and interpretability research as it advances its flagship AI system, Claude. CEO and Co-Founder Dario Amodei remarked, “These sites will help us build more capable AI systems that can drive those breakthroughs, while creating American jobs.” The firm selected Fluidstack for its agility in deploying gigawatts of power, with Fluidstack CEO Gary Wu stating, “We’re proud to partner with frontier AI leaders like Anthropic to accelerate and deploy the infrastructure necessary to realize their vision.”

The scale and ambition of this commitment reflect Anthropic’s view that achieving breakthroughs in scientific discovery and problem-solving via AI demands infrastructure built for the long term, cost-efficiency and capital-effective scaling. With this investment, it is not only enhancing its capacity to serve its rapidly growing business user base, but also positioning itself as a key player in the national infrastructure landscape for AI, addressing both the supply side of compute and the strategic imperative of ensuring that “the infrastructure… can support continued development at the frontier.”
