DigitalOcean Launches AI-Native Cloud to Power the Next Wave of Inference-Driven Applications

DigitalOcean has introduced its AI-Native Cloud, a fully integrated platform designed to support the growing demands of inference-heavy and agent-driven AI applications. Announced at the company’s Deploy 2026 event, the offering marks a shift from traditional cloud models toward infrastructure purpose-built for modern AI workloads.

As industries shift toward inference and autonomous AI agents, current cloud architectures are falling behind. It is DigitalOcean’s objective to fill this void with one seamless five-tier stack covering infrastructure, core cloud inference data, and managed agents. Already, DigitalOcean is serving production workloads for Higgsfield AI, Bright Data, and LawVo.

Whereas traditional pipelines insist on combining different services, AI-Native Cloud is a consolidated set of essentials for developing on a single platform for the developer, such as an agent orchestrator, real-time data processing engine, elastic inference engine, cloud primitives such as K8s, storage, and network, for the infrastructure layer. At the core, it is powered by global presence of data centers with high-end CPU & GPU, and sculpted for AI.

The platform reflects major shifts in AI workloads, where tasks increasingly rely on complex orchestration, high token consumption, and CPU-intensive operations. DigitalOcean estimates that agentic systems can consume significantly more resources than traditional applications, making efficiency and cost control critical. In benchmark comparisons, the company reports cost savings of 20–40% versus alternative cloud setups, supported by transparent pricing and no inter-layer data transfer fees.

Open-source compatibility is a central feature of the platform, enabling developers to combine open and proprietary models within a single application. This flexibility allows teams to adapt quickly as new models emerge, without being locked into specific vendors or architectures.

“Open models are giving builders more choice in how they build AI applications,” said Kari Briski, Vice President of Generative AI Software at NVIDIA. “AI companies need agents that can run continuously and improve over time. Our work with DigitalOcean brings NVIDIA Nemotron models to an open, full-stack platform that gives developers the infrastructure to build, deploy, and scale real-world AI applications more easily.”

With additional capabilities such as model routing, batch inference, and managed vector databases, DigitalOcean is positioning its AI-Native Cloud as a comprehensive solution for organizations building and scaling AI-driven products in an increasingly complex technological landscape.
