Alinto, the specialist in email security solutions, is accelerating its European expansion with the acquisition of the Swiss company MailCleaner

MailCleaner joins the Alinto Group – a European provider of email security solutions – to offer the international market a full suite of solutions related to secure email communication, that adapts to all types of businesses. This transaction comes just a few months after Alinto’s acquisition of the open source project SOGo and confirms the software manufacturer’s ambitions to cover the entire email value chain and to establish itself in the international market.

The Alinto Group confirms its ambitions in Switzerland.

After the 2016 acquisition of Cleanmail AG, originally based in the Zurich area, Alinto became the leading provider of anti-spam services in German-speaking Switzerland. With its sovereign cloud-based approach and thanks to a network of over a hundred local resellers, the company wanted to strengthen its presence in French-speaking Switzerland. To this end, the group recently acquired Fastnet SA, based in the canton of Vaud, which publishes the MailCleaner solution.

This investment confirms Alinto’s ambitions to enter international markets, to consolidate its presence in Switzerland thanks to this new branch in French-speaking Switzerland and to offer a solution that meets the email security problems of small and large organizations.

Alinto now operates four data centers in Switzerland (Valais, Vaud, Neuchâtel and Zurich) and has a multidisciplinary and multilingual team. Cleanmail AG, which offers Alinto’s services in Switzerland, will also expand its partner program. For its part, Fastnet SA brings with it a historic customer base and a team of recognized specialists.

MailCleaner x Alinto: The provision of e-mail-related services for all companies

MailCleaner is based on technologies similar to those used in Alinto’s Cleanmail anti-spam program and offers an open-source version and the option of installing the application software on-premises. The French software provider Alinto can thus meet the specific needs of those companies that want to retain control over their servers and sovereignty over their data, in a business area where access to data is very critical.

The open source technology makes it possible to offer the market a completely free software based e-mail suite as a complement to the e-mail server SOGo. Alinto is thus reaffirming its positioning on the subject of sovereignty and other future challenges.

Alinto strives to offer one-stop solutions for all organizations and together with MailCleaner, Alinto now covers all businesses and administrations, from micro-enterprises to large corporations, with on-premises installations or fully hosted solutions running on sovereign clouds. The rapprochement of the two companies also underscores the group’s desire to conquer the European market.

“Our goal is to increase our presence in Switzerland and internationally, and to cover a wider range of company sizes. Thanks to MailCleaner , we will offer a more comprehensive, powerful offer and address new markets. In addition, MailCleaner has an open source component that allows us to offer a complete open source range around SOGomail,” explains Philippe Gilbert, Executive Chairman of Alinto .

“ Our historical core business is the provision of Internet access. However, we had to find a powerful anti-spam solution very quickly to secure our own business and that of our customers. Since we didn’t like any solution on the market, we developed our own anti-spam software, which became our main product MailCleaner. The merger with Alinto allows us to join forces and achieve greater distribution coverage. A great opportunity for companies of all sizes to have access to well-secured email solutions!”, emphasizes Olivier Bourgeois, founder and CEO of Fastnet and now CTO of the Alinto Group.
