With Release 4 of its load testing software, Web Performance Inc. introduced web developers to push-button load testing in the cloud. Now, its latest upgrade adds a host of powerful new features that make load testing faster, easier and less expensive than ever.
Platform support was a major thrust in the 4.2 release of the Web Performance load testing software. The 64-bit Windows, Linux, and AIX operating system support are crucial in generating enormous numbers of concurrent users, either locally, or from the cloud, while requiring fewer number of load generating computers. The latest version extends and improves its cloud engines and platform support for the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox. The software can also auto-detect Chrome and Safari, then configure and launch them automatically for recording.
The test case editing view in the 4.2 release was re-written for superior flexibility when configuring custom load tests, and automated configuration for many frequently used routines. Field customization is more intuitive, and users can now save their favorite configurations for later use. All fields are visible without switching to headers view, and a Quick Search finds and highlights fields by name, value or other text.

Load Tester 4.2 also includes automatic test case configuration. For example, E-Tag support is now turned on by default for all testcases, eliminating a configuration step that can often be overlooked.
“It’s all about making test case customization faster, more efficient, more flexible and user friendly,” says Chris Merrill, Web Performance’s Chief Engineer. “By adding automatic configuration to many load test variables, we’ve made it even easier for users to configure customized test cases.”
