As part of its technology investment and digital transformation strategy, Gilbane Building Company announced that Alex Gutman has been named Chief Technology Officer and Rawle Sawh has been named Director of Operations Technology. Both leaders are seasoned veterans who will advance Gilbane’s application of existing and emerging technology in its operations, supporting business strategy and enhancing project delivery excellence.
The new positions reflect Gilbane’s strategic investment in digitalization. The two new roles report to Karen Higgins-Carter, Chief Information and Digital Officer, who joined Gilbane in October 2022 as the executive leader for digital transformation, data and analytics, technology, innovation and cybersecurity.

As CTO, Alex will lead technology investments, optimizing Gilbane’s return on investment. He will lead the development of the technical architecture for Gilbane’s current and future digital products and establish services that support Gilbane’s business strategy, innovation, and technology execution.
Gutman is an experienced and proven technology executive leader in the construction industry and has served as a chief information officer, driving digital transformation efforts nationally and internationally. His work has created new efficiencies, reduced costs, and leveraged emerging technology like blockchain and artificial intelligence. Prior to the construction industry, Gutman served as technology leader in the food and beverage industry, working with The Heineken Company and Rémy Cointreau.
