NEC & Red Hat Strengthen Global IT Modernization Efforts

NEC Corporation and Red Hat, a global leader in open source solutions, announced the expansion of their worldwide partnership to accelerate IT modernization and digital transformation using Red Hat OpenShift. NEC now designates Red Hat OpenShift, the industry-leading enterprise Kubernetes platform, as its preferred container platform for mission-critical applications. This collaboration will further strengthen technical cooperation, including the establishment of a Center of Excellence and joint technology development initiatives.

NEC was recently named a Red Hat Premier Business Partner and was the first certified partner to support Red Hat OpenShift in Japan. Since then, the company has prioritized assisting customers in deploying and managing container-based applications, leveraging Red Hat OpenShift.

Building on this longstanding relationship, NEC and Red Hat aim to deliver enhanced solutions across NEC offerings such as core DX, global 5G, digital finance, and digital government. Red Hat OpenShift provides a consistent, powerful container platform that allows organizations to build, deploy, and run applications across diverse IT environments on-premises, in the cloud, or at the edge. Combined with NEC’s extensive solutions portfolio, this collaboration enables enterprises to efficiently manage hybrid cloud, multicloud, and edge deployments, supporting scalable business growth.’

Key Areas of Collaboration:

Collaborative Center of Excellence – NEC and Red Hat will establish a joint technical support system, a collaborative Center of Excellence staffed by over 100 specialists from both companies. Primarily composed of architects with deep expertise in container technology and Red Hat products, this team will ensure customers can confidently integrate NEC solutions with Red Hat OpenShift. The Center will provide best practices in system design, technical support, and evaluation environments, enhancing the reliability and quality of IT systems and applications. This will be the first Center of Excellence jointly offered by Red Hat and a Premier Business Partner in Japan and among the largest in Asia.

Joint Technology Development – NEC and Red Hat will reinforce joint engineering initiatives, including collaboration within the Kubernetes community and co-located global engineering resources, to expand NEC solutions with Red Hat OpenShift. The partnership focuses on delivering end-to-end solutions for mission-critical applications, improving operational continuity, availability, and customer support to rapidly address technical challenges.

Through these initiatives, NEC and Red Hat will develop a global market strategy to accelerate the adoption of core DX, global 5G, and solutions for key sectors including digital finance and digital government. Both companies anticipate that this strengthened collaboration will drive success for domestic and international customers alike.
