Cloudflare and Mastercard Forge Strategic Alliance to Strengthen Cyber Defense for Critical Infrastructure and Small Businesses

Cloudflare

With integrated security offerings, they can identify hidden risks, assess their security posture, and automate protections for all web-connected assets.

Cloudflare, Inc. , a worldwide leader in cloud connectivity, and Mastercard Incorporated unveiled a strategic partnership resulting in powerful yet easy, to, use security solutions for the small, tier businesses, critical infrastructure operators, and government entities against the most pressing cybersecurity threats without putting brakes on innovation.

The agreement leverages the integration of Mastercards Recorded Future and RiskRecon attack surface monitoring features with Cloudflares extensive application security suite. The bundled offer is crafted to enable millions of organizations across the digital ecosystem to reveal, rank, and efficiently resolve the vulnerabilities in their security posture that are not readily apparent.

On the one hand, rapid digitalization offers various avenues for business expansion through the deployment of new technologies. But on the other hand, an ever, growing digital footprint, which includes third, party services, outsourced systems, shadow IT, and legacy infrastructure can create unguarded spots that threat actors can exploit. The collaboration is centered on supplying a productive, real, time cyber defense supportive of innovation and safeguarding valuable core assets.

Enhancing Visibility and Actionable Protection

Cloudflare and Mastercard’s joint offering focuses on three core capabilities that elevate cyber risk management:

  • Eliminating Blind Spots: Organizations can monitor their entire digital footprint and identify exposed domains or software stacks through Recorded Future. When unprotected assets are uncovered, Cloudflare’s application security solutions can be applied immediately.
  • Real-Time Cyber Posture Insights: Companies gain continuous, up-to-date visibility into their cybersecurity posture. Recorded Future generates a security rating from “A to F” based on vulnerability controls, authentication weaknesses, exposed infrastructure and third-party risk. These ratings are surfaced in Cloudflare Security Insights dashboards and prioritized by asset importance and severity.
  • Translating Risk into Protection: Organizations can swiftly activate key security controls including web application firewalls, encryption and automated defenses directly from the Cloudflare console to mitigate identified threats.

Industry Leaders on Cyber Resilience

Industry experts underscore the importance of collective action to strengthen global cybersecurity resilience:

“Improving the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure and reducing cyber risk is an ongoing and demanding mission,” said Dan Cimpean, Director of the Romanian National Cybersecurity Directorate. “Today, global society and economies are increasingly dependent on digital networks, and therefore, we must join forces across the public and private sectors, among nations and international organizations, to build resilience and prevent cyber incidents. Protecting critical infrastructure is, and must be, a collaborative effort.”

“For small businesses, critical infrastructure, and governments, a cyberattack represents much more than a technical obstacle. It’s an existential threat. Often perceived as ‘full of objectives but lacking resources,’ these organizations are strategic targets and are frequently attacked more often than global enterprises or Fortune 500 companies,” said Stephanie Cohen, Chief Strategy Officer at Cloudflare. “This partnership brings together the best in cyber defense to ensure these underserved organizations don’t fall victim to the growing volume of cyberattacks.”

“Given that small businesses account for nearly half of global GDP, addressing resilience gaps is critical to securing the foundation of our global economy,” said Johan Gerber, Global Head of Security Solutions at Mastercard. “Our collaboration with Cloudflare reinforces our mission to protect the digital ecosystem in partnership with governments and other key stakeholders, so businesses can focus on what matters most: their productivity and growth.”
