KnowBe4 is rolling out a new messaging security tool More exactly for Microsoft Teams, that will enhance its threat detection capacity into areas other than email, to assist organizations in safeguarding themselves from the rise of social engineering attacks via workplace collaboration tools.
KnowBe4 Messaging Security’s introduction is Mainly to deliver a single protective cover for your email and chat environments, an area that as the company, is experiencing significant security communication gaps in enterprises. As organizations are progressively dependent on collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams, attackers have also started to take advantage of the faith that employees have in internal messaging systems.
KnowBe4’s recent phishing threat data shows that criminals are using Microsoft Teams to disguise themselves as IT support, trick employees into revealing passwords, and challenge unauthorized access to company systems. The firm warns that a lot of organizations permit “open-door” communication to external users within Teams which represents another area susceptible to phishing and harmful activities that evade the protection of conventional email filters.
The new solution enables organizations to detect, investigate, and respond to suspicious activity directly within Microsoft Teams. It also offers visibility into risks linked to external communications and unsafe platform configurations.

Capabilities include message monitoring from sources outside the organization, detection of phishing attacks and impersonation scams, and scanning the Microsoft Teams environment for any possible vulnerabilities, such as open access to users who are not members of the organization. Additionally, the tool enables administrators to check detection policies in report only mode before enforcement.
In addition, KnowBe4 Messaging Security uses a shared threat intelligence list across both email and Microsoft Teams, ensuring known malicious actors are blocked consistently across communication channels. Messages are assigned risk classifications and security tags to support faster threat triage and response.
“KnowBe4 Messaging Security has been launched with the goal of enhancing, not hindering, teamwork,” said Greg Kras, Chief Product Officer at KnowBe4. “This provides organizations with a single, unified console that seamlessly secures both email and chat environments, starting with Microsoft Teams. By removing the uncertainty from chat interactions, we empower employees to collaborate confidently. This ensures that both internal and external collaboration drives business value, rather than introducing new liabilities.”
The launch reflects the broader shift in cybersecurity strategies as organizations seek to secure modern collaboration platforms that have become central to daily business operations.
