Workiva Inc., a leading audit-ready platform for trust, transparency, and accountability, announced the launch of three purpose-built AI agents alongside Workiva Knowledge a persistent intelligence layer grounded in an organization’s proprietary data, custom instructions, and enterprise content. The new agentic suite enables finance, sustainability, risk, and compliance teams to automate complex reporting and regulatory workflows while maintaining strict governance and complete auditability.
As global regulatory requirements expand across financial and ESG disclosures, enterprise teams face mounting operational pressure. Workiva’s specialized agents assume heavy administrative workloads by delivering fully traceable, defensible, and audit-ready outputs designed for mission-critical workflows where accuracy is non-negotiable.
“Finance, sustainability, risk, and compliance teams are moving from execution to orchestration as AI agents take on more of the work, and we’re building the platform that makes that transformation possible,” said Deepak Bharadwaj, Chief Product Officer of Workiva. “As we evolve the Workiva platform, we’re staying true to what our customers have always counted on us to deliver: accuracy, transparency, and solutions shaped by the reality and complexity of their work.”

Purpose-Built Agents for High-Stakes Compliance Workflows
Workiva’s new AI agentic capabilities target critical operational pain points across financial close, peer disclosure benchmarking, and environmental reporting:
Tie-Out Agent: This software tool helps users automate the verification of financial closures by using a comparative checking method between different financial statements and reports. If any variance is identified, the agent not only flags them but also offers AI-generated explanations for the discrepancies before generating the complete records to speed up both internal audits and external ones.
Benchmarking Agent: This is a tool that allows the insertion of peer intelligence straight into your editing space by conducting an analysis of publicly filed 10-K and 10-Q documents from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The users have the possibility of creating peer groups with characteristics of their choice, spotting the gaps in their reports and using the facility for drafting disclosures with immediate links to the source SEC documents.
Sustainability Disclosure Agent: This agent ensures that disclosure processes for the different areas within sustainability and ESG compliance go smoothly as the setups keep up with change, such as the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). Besides, it helps teams identify gaps in existing reports and develop strategies to close those gaps through the use of tools like a full compliance scorecard.
Compounding Organizational Intelligence with Workiva Knowledge
Underpinning the agent suite is Workiva Knowledge, a persistent context layer that synthesizes institutional data—including historical SEC filings, internal policies, board materials, and authoritative guidance. The system enriches its contextual understanding with every reporting cycle, ensuring future AI interactions remain grounded in organizational context and verifiable source documentation.
To support multi-model flexibility, Workiva also introduced a Model Context Protocol (MCP) gateway. The gateway permits enterprise clients to leverage external large language models of their choice while preserving Workiva’s underlying data governance, access permissions, and lineage tracking.
