Hack The Box Launches AI Range Enterprise Edition for Cyber Defense

Hack The Box

Hack The Box (HTB) has introduced AI Range Enterprise Edition, giving enterprise security teams a structured way to assess whether their artificial intelligence agents can effectively perform assigned cybersecurity responsibilities.

This new solution helps solve the increasing problem faced by enterprises using AI for security operations: demonstrating how well an agent is capable of performing actual jobs, beyond the metrics or evaluations by vendors. Given that AI technology, software, data, and cyber threats keep changing and evolving, so too can the performance of an agent.

“As AI takes on more cybersecurity tasks, leaders need confidence in both sides of the workforce,” said Haris Pylarinos, Founder and CEO of Hack The Box. “They need to know that agents can do the jobs they are being given, but they also need people with the expertise and judgment to direct that work, verify it and step in when needed. Building cyber readiness means developing human capability and understanding agent capability together.”

AI Range Enterprise Edition builds on HTB’s AI Range platform, launched in December 2025 to test AI security agents within controlled cyber environments. The enterprise version introduces role-based evaluations through HTB’s Agentic Worker Competence methodology. Organizations can receive performance scores, pass-or-fail outcomes for individual environments and longitudinal visibility into an agent’s capabilities. Assessments can also be repeated as underlying models, software, datasets or operating conditions change.

The company is also focusing on the human side of AI-assisted cybersecurity. Its Agentic Operator Competence Scoring evaluates whether security professionals can appropriately supervise AI-driven work, recognize flawed reasoning, validate recommendations and intervene when necessary. AI-augmented roles for penetration testers and security operations center analysts are available initially, with additional roles planned.

“Connect the agent, assign it a role and let it work,” said Gerasimos Marketos, Chief Product Officer at Hack The Box. “AI Range records how the agent handles the task independently, including where it succeeds and where it struggles. Security leaders can use those results to decide what work an agent is ready to take on and where human oversight is still needed.”

The launch reflects a broader shift toward measurable human-AI collaboration, where organizations must assess both automated capabilities and the expertise required to oversee them effectively.
