VMware Unveils Flexible New Architecture for VMware Cloud on AWS to Accelerate Cloud Migration and Support Modern AI/ML Workloads

VMware

VMware by Broadcom announced a next-generation architecture for VMware Cloud on AWS enabled by an Amazon EC2 M7i bare-metal instance featuring custom 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors (code named Sapphire Rapids). This diskless instance combined with scalable and flexible storage options will enable customers to better match application and infrastructure requirements. VMware Cloud on AWS customers will be able to leverage this instance to accelerate cloud migrations, recover from disasters and ransomware attacks faster, and build and deploy modern AI/ML workloads, all with a lower total cost of ownership.

VMware Cloud on AWS is a jointly engineered managed service that combines VMware Cloud Foundation with Amazon EC2 elastic, bare-metal infrastructure to enable customers to run business-critical applications across private, public and hybrid cloud environments, with optimized access to AWS services. The service delivers the same architecture and operation experiences on-premises and in the cloud, enabling IT teams to more rapidly extend, migrate, protect, and modernize vSphere-based applications on AWS using familiar VMware tools. VMware Cloud on AWS is delivered and supported by VMware and its partner community, and sold by VMware, AWS, and their respective partner networks. With the new Amazon EC2 M7i instance, along with flexible storage options, customers can move to the cloud easier and modernize enterprise applications faster.
