Highline Bringing Real Internet to Michigan Viewed Directly by Lt Governor Gilchrist

Highline, the new Fiber High-Speed Internet provider in Michigan, had the honor of showcasing their results of delivering gigabit speeds to Michigan residents during Lt Governor Gilchrist’s visit to Ford River Township on Saturday, July 18th.

“We’re building a 6,000-mile fiber network, all brand new, and we’re providing fiber access to over 50,000 households across Michigan which may grow with additional grant funds.”

Lt. Governor Gilchrist has taken a personal interest in Broadband being delivered to the rural communities of Michigan and was delighted to see that Highline has already planned, constructed, and delivered services to over 500 customers in Michigan since launching their first customer in October. Bruce Moore, CEO of Highline Mid-West has been promoting the growth of Broadband in Michigan to all townships, counties, and political advocates to ensure that they understand that Highline is willing to build to every county with the help of additional Michigan grant money that will be available this year, and subsequent years. Having the infrastructure in place and connecting to a core network means that expansions into additional counties is easier for Highline than a new entity coming in and having to start their construction from scratch.

During the evening visit, Lt Governor Gilchrist was able to see the equipment plows being used for construction but was more intrigued by the ONT, Router and splicing fiber that would be delivered to each household that becomes a customer. Highline delivers a home Internet and Wi-Fi solution that gives the customer the ability to have an easy-to-use App on their phone or tablet, and be able to view all of their connected devices using the Wi-Fi, see the Download and Upload speeds attained, and also visibly see all blocked threats to their home network! Lt Gilchrist understands the value of Internet and how important it is connecting all of Michigan and the impact it has on businesses, homeowners, education and telemedicine, and the staggering impact it will have to the youth of Michigan which is future of Michigan.

Gilchrist says that making sure everyone can get access to affordable broadband Internet access is important to Michigan’s economic development, and remains one of the top priorities for he and Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Highline could not be more thrilled to be fixing the Internet problems of Michigan,” Moore said. “We’re building a 6,000-mile fiber network, all brand new, and we’re providing fiber access to over 50,000 households across Michigan which may grow with additional grant funds.”
