Cloudflare Enters the Multicloud Networking Market: Unlocking Simple, Secure Multicloud for Enterprises

Cloudflare

Cloudflare, Inc, the leading cloud connectivity company, today announced the launch of Magic Cloud Networking, a simple, secure and scalable way for businesses to leverage their Connect and secure public cloud environments. To accelerate entry into the new market, Cloudflare has acquired Nefeli Networks’ technology. Nefeli Networks is a multicloud networking (MCN) startup focused on reducing complexity for IT and DevOps teams by providing a unified network management layer for cloud infrastructure deployment. By integrating Nefeli’s technology into the Connectivity Cloud , Cloudflare now combines cloud network orchestration with global network scale in a unified platform. This makes Cloudflare uniquely positioned to help enterprises seamlessly discover, connect and secure any private or public cloud environment while avoiding dependency on public clouds.

The majority of enterprises today rely on large public cloud providers in some capacity and these organizations must manually configure and manage cloud networking platforms to connect each virtual private cloud (VPC). Multicloud networks provide organizations with the ability to leverage multiple cloud environments and easily implement and manage connectivity and security policies across those environments. Nefeli’s technology automates and simplifies this process by creating a single interface that allows teams to more easily implement and manage changes to network components.

“ We believe the full potential of the cloud can only be truly realized when customers can easily combine the best features of each public cloud provider,” said Matthew Prince, CEO and co-founder of Cloudflare. “ Adding Nefeli’s team and capabilities to Cloudflare’s Connectivity Cloud accelerates our entry into multi-cloud networking. Our customers can reduce the cost of managing multiple cloud providers and gain greater control, visibility, flexibility and resiliency to get the most out of their cloud environments.”

The partnership between Nefeli and Cloudflare began during the Workers Launchpad program, which allowed the Nefeli team to explore how to scale the technologies to best serve customers. Cloudflare has acquired Nefeli’s team and technology to accelerate the development and adoption of Magic Cloud Networking. Cloudflare is integrating this technology into Cloudflare One, its comprehensive SASE platform, to provide customers with unified management across their entire enterprise network, including cloud and on-premises deployments. By offering Magic Cloud Networking as part of a unified platform along with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) capabilities, Cloudflare is now the only provider with a comprehensive Zero Trust product portfolio , robust network connectivity, supported by our global footprint and backbone, and industry-leading application and network security that connects and protects not only customers’ internal, private systems, but also their external, publicly accessible systems.

Magic Cloud Networking will enable customers to leverage Cloudflare’s global network, the largest and most connected network in the SASE market, spanning 310 cities in more than 120 countries and connecting to more than 13,000 networks worldwide. With the addition of Magic Cloud Networking, Cloudflare enables customers to seamlessly discover, visualize, connect and secure their cloud network infrastructure. This uniquely positions Cloudflare as a one-stop shop for customers looking to transform their network architecture.

“ At Nefeli, we are committed to ensuring that organizations can get the most out of the cloud without being constrained by artificial boundaries within or between specific cloud platforms,” said Eugenia Corrales, CEO of Nefeli. “ By seamlessly integrating Nefeli’s multicloud networking capabilities with Cloudflare’s robust platform, enterprises can now easily connect and manage their cloud infrastructure with built-in security and performance at scale.”
