IBM Cloud Internet Services now with Cloudflare Bot Management to combat the growing threats facing businesses

Cloudflare

Cloudflare, Inc, the security, performance and reliability company helping to build a better Internet, announced that IBM Cloud Internet Services (CIS), powered by Cloudflare, has expanded its offering to include Cloudflare Bot Management. This service helps Enterprise Premier Plan companies address and combat the growing threat of malicious bot traffic.

Cloudflare and IBM Cloud have partnered since 2018, natively integrating Cloudflare application security and performance with IBM Cloud via IBM CIS powered by Cloudflare . With CIS, customers can configure their web and internet applications to protect against cyber threats such as DDoS attacks and data theft, while improving performance and reliability through CIS features such as load balancing, optimized routing and caching, and data sharing.

The deployment of Cloudflare Bot Management comes at a time when malicious bots continue to consume resources and pose significant challenges to organizations. According to Forrester Research, a leading global research and consulting firm, malicious bots are responsible for at least a quarter of all internet traffic. “Bot management solution providers that have traditionally specialized in ad fraud, identity fraud or application security have recognized the need to expand their offerings to support customers who have teams in areas such as security, marketing, e-commerce, anti-fraud , customer experience, or business leadership,” according to Forrester Research. “Modern bot management tools need to keep pace with evolving attacks.

As malicious bot attacks become more sophisticated and manual remediation more cumbersome, organizations running internet-connected workloads need a dynamic and adaptable solution. As part of Cloudflare Bot Management’s comprehensive detection and mitigation offering, organizations can protect against targeted application abuse such as credential stuffing, inventory hoarding, carding abuse, and content scraping. The Cloudflare Bot Management feature is available immediately to all IBM Cloud CIS customers on the Enterprise Premier Plan.

“Cloudflare and IBM Cloud Internet Services have helped support the tremendous growth in internet-facing business applications, and we are seeing increasing bot activity around the world. Bad bots are part of this equation. They pose significant risks and lead to inefficiencies in business operations ranging from fraudulent transactions to purchase attempts under false identities,” said Matt Harrell, Global Head of Channels and Alliances at Cloudflare. “These malicious activities can deter legitimate customers from their purchases and hurt a company’s bottom line, not to mention the enormous risks of data loss. So it is another effort to protect business operations at this critical level.”

“As the threat landscape grows, it’s more important than ever to evolve our offerings to better support our customers on their cyber resilience journey,” said Nataraj Nagaratnam, Fellow, CTO, Cloud Security at IBM. “Both IBM and Cloudflare are committed to delivering solutions that mitigate costly security threats without sacrificing internet speed or the company’s innovation processes. We are committed to providing our customers with a single, integrated solution that delivers industry-leading protection and accelerated performance.”
