IonQ and CMC Microsystems Partner to Expand Cloud Quantum Computing Access in Canada

IonQ

IonQ, a major company in the field of quantum computing, has been collaborating with CMC Microsystems, a not-for-profit organization overseeing the Canadian National Microelectronics Network, to increase access through the cloud to trapped-ion quantum computers for the Canadian research, academia, and commercial innovation communities. Detailed in the partnership agreement, CMC Microsystems will be introducing IonQ’s trapped-ion quantum hardware to its cloud platform such that over 10,000 university students 1 000 professors, and numerous technology companies nationwide will have to resort to quantum computations without incurring a lot of costs. In this way, by providing the general and commercial users access to IonQ hardware, they expect that this project will not only increase the quantum research in various key fields (like in materials chemistry optimization, and machine learning) but will also raise the level of quantum knowledge in Canada’s innovation environment.
