Telit Cinterion partners with Thales to enhance its IoT eSIM provisioning services

Telit Cinterion

Telit Cinterion IoT modules featuring Thales Instant Connect can be remotely activated for cellular connectivity at the time of device installation or during field operation. This streamlines IoT deployments by simplifying the supply chain, device installation and maintenance, and helps keep IoT devices connected anywhere, at all times. Aidon, a leader in smart metering solutions, is the first to benefit from this partnership and solution, implementing the initial connectivity and IoT modules from a single provider, Telit Cinterion.

By integrating Thales technology into Telit Cinterion modules, businesses can instantly enjoy connectivity activation right out of the box, regardless of the distribution of available mobile networks. The collaboration between the two companies on this innovative solution allows them to have their connected IoT products on the market quickly, allowing them to reap the benefits of the digital transformation that is at the heart of the promise of IoT.

The way the solution works is that, at the end of device production or when deployed in practice, the Telit Cinterion module uses the initial connectivity provided by Thales Instant Connect to offload the desired local connectivity from selected network operators by the IoT service provider. This allows device manufacturers and service providers to postpone selecting a connectivity provider until after the device is manufactured and throughout the deployment process. It can also be used during operation in practice, allowing deployed devices to stay connected during unexpected cellular network outages. This flexibility is especially beneficial in situations where devices are deployed in different regions or countries, as it allows for seamless integration with local network operators.

“Our mission at Telit Cinterion is to help our enterprise customers launch and monetize IoT quickly. Adding the Thales eSIM to our modules along with SIM provisioning and global MVNO services to streamline the selection of the final connectivity provider is revolutionary in the sector. “This powerful solution offers unrivaled adaptation to changing circumstances and simplifies supply chain and logistics because it is based on a single eSIM with Thales Instant Connect, which can be sent anywhere in the world,” said Manish Watwani, Chief Marketing Officer. and Telit Cinterion Product .

“The eSIM solution for IoT is an important innovation, ensuring the flexibility of production and connectivity of our smart meters, even in rural areas, and all without the need for physical manipulation of the SIMs. The solution offers true carrier selection and provisioning at any stage of the product lifecycle. It is improving our ability to get smart meters connected, stay connected and adapt to new measurements as business models as a service,” said Petri Ounila, Director, IoT Devices, Aidon.

“Thales’ goal is to help IoT adopters and streamline device deployment with our eSIM with initial connectivity through the Thales Instant Connect service. This simplifies and accelerates large-scale IoT deployment for device manufacturers, benefiting all stakeholders in the value chain. Thales is pleased to be working with Telit Cinterion to assist in their cellular connectivity success and accelerate device deployment,” said Guillaume Lafaix, Senior Vice President of Mobile Connectivity Solutions at Thales .
