IonQ and Intellian Technologies, Inc. partner to transform satellite communications with quantum computing

IonQ, a leading innovator in quantum computing and networking, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Intellian Technologies, Inc., a prominent global provider of satellite communication antennas and ground gateway solutions. This collaboration aims to explore the integration of secure quantum networking into satellite communications, marking a significant step in IonQ’s ongoing efforts to bolster South Korea’s quantum economy.

Intellian, headquartered in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, is renowned for its satellite and marine radio terminals and antennas. As a trusted partner to numerous network operators worldwide, Intellian’s hardware plays a crucial role in facilitating global satellite network connectivity. This partnership underscores Intellian’s dedication to advancing satellite communication technologies.

We also ultimately envisage quantum time synchronization as a GPS alternative.”

This non-binding MoU with Intellian represents a pivotal advancement in IonQ’s vision to pioneer quantum-enabled satellite communications.

IonQ’s connection to South Korea is deeply rooted in the company’s history. Co-founder Dr. Jungsang Kim, a South Korea native, has been instrumental in the quantum computing industry. His contributions were recognized in 2023 when he was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors for his achievements at IonQ.
