Snowflake to Acquire Natoma to Strengthen Governance for Enterprise AI Agents

Snowflake

Snowflake has announced plans to acquire Natoma to strengthen secure connectivity and governance for enterprise AI agents. The acquisition will integrate Natoma’s enterprise Model Context Protocol (MCP) platform into Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud, enabling organizations to securely connect AI systems with enterprise applications, databases, APIs, and tools while maintaining centralized governance and visibility. The move comes as enterprises increasingly adopt autonomous AI agents but continue to face challenges around fragmented governance, shadow AI, and data security risks. With Natoma’s MCP Gateway and verified MCP server library, Snowflake customers will be able to securely connect Cortex Agents, Snowflake Intelligence, and Cortex Code with systems such as Slack, CRM platforms, email, Jira, and internal applications to deliver richer and more actionable AI outcomes.

“AI agents are quickly becoming part of how enterprises operate, but intelligence without governance creates risk,” said Sridhar Ramaswamy, Chief Executive Officer of Snowflake. He added that Natoma’s expertise in identity governance and privileged access management will help enterprises scale AI securely with auditability and policy controls. The acquisition further positions Snowflake as a governance and control layer for the emerging agentic enterprise.
