IBM Cloud Unveils Sovereignty Risk Profile to Strengthen AI and Data Compliance

IBM Cloud

IBM Cloud has introduced IBM Cloud Sovereignty Risk Profile, a new tool aimed at helping enterprises improve visibility, compliance, and operational control as digital sovereignty becomes increasingly critical in the AI era. The launch follows research from the IBM Institute for Business Value and the Dubai Future Foundation showing that while 93% of executives consider sovereignty essential to business strategy, only a small percentage maintain accurate oversight of AI systems and workloads. The Sovereignty Risk Profile is part of IBM’s Security and Compliance Center Workload Protection platform.

It helps organizations monitor cloud workloads. It also checks compliance with data residency and encryption rules. Finally, it creates audit-ready evidence for regulators. IBM’s larger sovereignty strategy has four pillars: provability, prevention, privacy, and portability. These pillars help businesses manage data access, encryption keys, where they deploy, and how they move workloads in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The offering also complements IBM Sovereign Core, reinforcing IBM’s push to help highly regulated industries securely scale AI and cloud operations while addressing growing global compliance demands.
