Orion, a leading wealthtech provider for financial advisors and advisory firms, has unveiled the next phase of its flexible technology ecosystem, expanding how technology providers can securely connect with Orion data and build new AI-enabled solutions. The initiative is supported by the company’s largest research and development investment to date and is designed to give advisors greater flexibility while strengthening governance around data access.
The extended ecosystem brings about other possibilities for connectivity through APIs, MCP, and data sharing technologies. Additionally, integration partners will also have access to the Orion Connect and Redtail CRM APIs, which allow them to interact with portfolios and client information using an extended technology ecosystem.
“Orion has always believed that when great technology connects, advisors can better serve their clients,” said Reed Colley, President of Orion Advisor Technology. “We opened our API to the industry in 2015, when most platforms still kept their doors closed, and we were among the first to offer data sharing in 2022. AI makes that openness matter more than ever, and the next phase of our flexible ecosystem opens Orion even further. Providers can now build across both Orion Connect and Redtail CRM, bringing both portfolio and client relationship data together, and advisors get more choice in how they build the technology stacks that fit their firms.”

The company currently works with more than 500 integration providers, giving advisory firms access to a wide range of technologies, data sources, and workflows. Under the expanded program, participating providers will receive MCP connectivity, continued support for Redshift and Snowflake, marketplace visibility, integration certification, an API sandbox, defined rate limits, and published support commitments.
Orion is also extending its investment in AI capabilities, including more granular data access, the Denali Gateway Portal, AI services, agents, and workflow orchestration. The company recently introduced its first MCP connector with Claude, allowing advisors to securely connect AI tools with Orion data.
“We recently launched our first MCP connector with Claude, giving advisors a secure way to connect AI to Orion, and we’re expanding MCP access to our integration providers in the coming weeks,” Colley said. “It’s part of Orion’s 2026 R&D investment, the largest in our history, and it’s focused squarely on AI. From more granular data access and the Denali Gateway Portal to AI services, agents, and orchestration that move work across systems, we’re building the foundation for advisors and our providers to put AI to work securely and responsibly.”
The expanded ecosystem is intended to support greater innovation while ensuring firms retain control over their data through certified integrations, defined access standards, and stronger governance measures.
