Wolters Kluwer

The agentic tax preparation functions have been introduced by Wolters Kluwer within the CCH Axcess Tax system that will allow accountants to automate several important stages in preparing an individual federal tax return, retaining the element of professionalism, control, and management. CCH Axcess Tax uses Expert AI to prepare and calculate Form 1040 returns, detecting exceptions, and letting the professionals concentrate on analysis, decisions, and providing services. This system performs a variety of preparatory actions in a tax workflow process. They include the identification of the documents and information required for preparing a tax return, classification of files, extracting tax data, mapping information, performing calculations, raising exceptions, linking calculated values to the evidential documents, and creating workpapers.

“CCH Axcess is the agentic platform for tax and accounting, redefining the experience for both professionals and their clients,” said Cathy Rowe, Executive Vice President and Segment Leader, U.S. Professional Market, Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting. “Agentic tax preparation marks a significant shift in how tax work gets done. It helps firms create more capacity without sacrificing quality or control, so professionals can focus their expertise where it matters most.” However, this new set of features is embedded within the CCH Axcess Tax platform, and not delivered separately as an application. Tax preparers will still need to examine, validate, and authorize the returns before filing. This release is in keeping with the overall trend toward using AI to augment professional services.
