Unified IT management platform provider NinjaOne has announced the launch of Katana AI alongside integration support for the open Model Context Protocol (MCP).
The launch places governed agentic AI directly into the NinjaOne IT management setup. The toolkit allows IT and MSP teams to automate sophisticated diagnostic, ticketing, and endpoint resolution processes that can be managed without leaving enterprise security guardrails.
Unlocking Safe, Context-Aware Automation Across Enterprise IT Touchpoints.
Legacy automation tools can sit, languishing for months, within a constantly growing fleet of endpoints, cloud environments and user requests while IT organizations and MSPs try to keep pace. Generic generative AI tools either do not have enough context about the system or do not have the guardrails for execution and pose a data privacy risk.
NinjaOne addresses these risks by combining Katana AI’s vertical domain cognition with Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open technical standard for standardized and secure data exchanges between AI models and the software application environment. This mapping of endpoint telemetry to automation execution allows IT teams to automate multi-step IT workflows without loss of control.

Key operational capabilities delivered through Katana AI and MCP support include:
Governed Agentic Execution: Enables autonomous AI agents to carry out multi-step operational tasks such as diagnostic triage, software patch deployments, and ticket resolutions under administrative permission guarails.
Open MCP Standard Integration: Integrate NinjaOne‘s endpoint database and telemetry streams to third-party AI assistants, custom LLMs, and enterprise IT service management (ITSM) tools.
Smart Endpoints Contextual Endpoint Intelligence: Monitors device health data, software setups and logs constantly to recommend a specific fix before a problem occurs.
Granular Compliance & Audit Control: Implements role-based access controls (RBAC) and tracking for every action performed by AI to address both regulation and audit requirements.
“AI in IT shouldn’t mean sending your data to a black box or trusting a bot to run wild on your network. Our approach to AI gives IT teams powerful, context-aware assistance while keeping humans firmly in control,” said Sal Sferlazza, CEO and Co-Founder at NinjaOne. “Katana AI and MCP support are built specifically for the realities of modern IT – where speed matters, but security and reliability are non-negotiable.”
Accelerating Resolution Speeds for MSPs and IT Organizations.
Using governance through the use of AI automation in place of manual methods of problem solving enables NinjaOne to enable IT and service desk professionals to reduce mean time to resolve, remove repetitive tasks, and increase uptime.
