In a major move to simplify enterprise branch architectures, Arista Networks has introduced its AI-driven Edge Threat Management (ETM) for VeloCloud SD-WAN, unifying zero-trust perimeter security and WAN connectivity into a single, cohesive platform. Scheduled for general availability in Q4 2026 across all current VeloCloud hardware and virtual edge platforms, integrated ETM eliminates hardware sprawl by consolidating disparate security appliances into a single edge device managed through the VeloCloud Orchestrator GUI. Key features include advanced firewalling, zone-based segmentation, Geo-IP/DNS filtering, and AI-powered policy insights driven by Arista AVA® (Autonomous Virtual Assist), which utilizes tools like “Policy Explainer” and “Traffic Simulation” to translate complex rules into natural language and prevent misconfigurations.

Highlighting the operational efficiency gained by consolidating branch infrastructure, Till Bockenheimer from T&A SYSTEME GmbH noted: “The new ETM functionality allows us to offer requested security services on top of the existing SD-WAN infrastructure managed within the same GUI.
