Semtech Corporation has announced the full production and volume availability of its mobile transport portfolio, designed to enable the industry’s transition to 50G optical interfaces and support AI-driven 5G-Advanced radio deployments. Built on Semtech’s ClearEdge®, Tri-Edge™, and FiberEdge® product families, the comprehensive chipset solution provides the high-bandwidth 50G fronthaul architecture needed as cloud-assisted AI applications shift mobile traffic patterns and increase uplink capacity demands by three to five times. The announcement aligns with major ecosystem deployments from network equipment manufacturers like Ericsson and Nokia, as well as optical module suppliers like Source Photonics. Emphasizing the foundational role of this technology, Stefan Dahlfort, president of the Mobile Optical Pluggables Alliance (MOPA), stated: “The optical layer is the foundation of the AI-era mobile network. With operators and system vendors now committing to 50G fronthaul, the industry needs interoperable, high-volume silicon solutions ready today.
